1 Position Description Position Details Title Reports to Professionally reports to Location Authorised by Child Protection Coordinator Te Puaruruhau Service Clinical Director Auckland District Health Board Social Work Professional Lead Te Puaruruhau Patrick Kelly, Service Clinical Director, Te Puaruruhau Date 11/03/2019 Primary Function To support the development and implementation of a uniformly high quality multi-disciplinary response to child protection issues across the ADHB, in partnership with Te Puaruruhau (the ADHB child protection team), the Violence Intervention Programme and Puawaitahi (the multi-agency centre) To maintain both a practice and a policy focus on the varying and changing needs of the organisation in relation to child protection Key Accountabilities Key Result Area Expected Outcomes/Performance Indicators Leadership Contributes to reducing the health impact of child abuse and neglect through the development of integrated child protection systems across ADHB-funded services, including services for children and adults (particularly adult women s health), physical and mental health and hospitalbased and community services Supports the implementation of the Ministry of Health (MoH) Family Violence Assessment and Intervention Guidelines; Child Abuse and Intimate Partner Violence Supports the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding between the ADHB, Oranga Tamariki and the Police and its associated Schedules, and the Puawaitahi Operational Guidelines

2 Develops, maintains and supports the implementation of ADHB child protection policies, guidelines and practice pathways to achieve the above objectives Enhances and promotes innovation and expertise in multidisciplinary child protection practice Provides child protection training Recognises gaps and opportunities relating to child protection in the ADHB and draws these to the attention of ADHB management Contributes to relevant strategic and service plans Provides leadership in the modification of ADHB child protection systems and processes in response to changes in relevant legislation Expert Clinical Practice Provides expert consultation concerning child protection systems and practices within the ADHB Demonstrates in practice the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi Partnership, Participation & Protection Demonstrates culturally safe practice that encompasses a diverse range of beliefs, values and practices Facilitates and models multi-disciplinary practice, high quality clinical service and patient focused care Models working collaboratively and consultatively with primary clinicians and multi-disciplinary teams locally, regionally and nationally. Leads and models effective communication strategies to enhance coordinated child protection practice Professional Governance Maintains advanced clinical, cultural, and professional standards and competencies Adheres to clinical, organisational and professional body values, standards of practice and code of ethics In partnership, fulfils own responsibilities within ADHB s performance review process Quality Assurance Develops and maintains data collection systems to identify and track patterns and trends relevant to child protection to inform appropriate service development and planning, in line with operational and strategic direction Audits and evaluates the implementation of child protection policies, guidelines and pathways Leads, facilitates and demonstrates commitment to continuous quality improvement utilising contemporary methodologies locally, regionally and nationally Leads multi-disciplinary and multi-agency child protection case reviews to inform the development of better child protection practice both within the ADHB and between the ADHB and associated organisations Ensures practice is in line with competency frameworks, Professional Standards of Practice, National and International standards and best available evidence Understands and works within the ADHB quality framework Provides monitoring reports as required (e.g. audits and reports for the Violence Intervention Programme, reports for the Children s Action Plan) Participates in regional and national meetings of the Violence Intervention Programme and the Child Protection Special Interest Group Relationships and Risk Management Develops effective partnerships with appropriate stakeholders throughout the ADHB Works collaboratively with relevant stakeholders in
