2 WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW... CHARACTERISTICS OF A MULTISPORTS AND ACTIVITY FLOORING The ability of the floor to absorb the energy from any type of impact such as jogging, running, jumping or falling. It guarantees the level of security of a multi sports floor. Look for a point elastic floor offering the best compromise between shock absorption and thickness such as Gerflor s multilayered and expended vinyl backing flooring. This determines the playability of a floor. Ball rebound must be 90%. A good multisports floor must deliver a consistent ball rebound all across the whole surface of the floor. This measures the floor s performance. On a low performing floor a player will feel like he is running on sand, and on a very high performing floor he ll feel like running on a trampoline. Multisports flooring offers the right balance to maximize playability and security. This is the level of deformation of the floor under the foot when walking, running or jumping; foothold is perfectly secured when vertical deformation bounce back to its original shape after the impact. Look for a uniform friction in all directions of the sports floor to increase its playability, while reducing the risk of injuries such as sprains or twisted ankles.
