4 The Company Established May 2009, as a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee Joint venture founded by Government and the Mayor of London to assist them in delivering their legacy commitments for the Olympic Park Commercial approach, but social objectives at our core. Led by: Commercially grounded, community minded. 20 OPLC s Olympic Park Supply Chain Pilot Using the procurement of an operator for the ArcelorMittal Orbit as a live case study, pilot commissioned : Help bidders for the Orbit engage with the local business base, through a local supplier directory Shape business support to help local SMEs, social enterprises and diverse businesses become fit to supply and compete for Orbit-related supply chain opportunities Establish a baseline from which the Company can set realistic targets to measure contracts won by local firms

21 OPLC s Labour Market Forecasting Model Consortium led by Experian commissioned to develop a bespoke labour market forecasting model. This will: + Generate information on the types and volumes of jobs that will be required by contractors, tenants and employers working on the Olympic Park over the lifetime of the development + Workforce information will be shared to partners who fund and/or deliver education, training and employment support to shape the services they provide = Local people get the right advice and skills at the right time to take advantage of employment opportunities as they arise

22 Case Study : The Skills Place Newham - Olympic Park Careers Training Programme 8,000 sq ft training space Employer-led Tailored skills training courses to meet needs of employers within and linked to Olympic Park Retail, leisure services, hospitality from entry level to management qualifications Curriculum updated by labour forecasts Local people get the right skills for jobs
