3 ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW The Casman Group of Companies is comprised of more than 30 businesses serving the land development and construction markets, primarily located within the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (the greater Fort McMurray service area). Within the Casman Group of Companies, the Casman Construction Group of Companies (CCG) is comprised of ten independent business units including general and specialty contracting services. CCG provides a wide array of construction project and maintenance services serving the residential, commercial and industrial construction sectors. Specialty subcontracting services include HVAC, plumbing, electrical, millwork, concrete pumping and placement services. The Casman Construction Group of Companies has maintained a consistent track record of growth and profitability over more than twenty five years. 6 POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES CEO Portfolio Reporting to the President of the Casman Group of Companies, the CEO oversees the operations and performance of the following companies: Casman Building Ltd. Casman Construction Ltd. Four C s Millwork Ltd. Borealis Mechanical Ltd. FMR Mechanical Ltd. RCI Electrical Services Ltd. P-Ban Enterprises Ltd. Professional Concrete Finishers Ltd. Responsibilities The CEO oversees the operations and performance of the Construction Group of Companies and manages its compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Leading an educated, highly skilled senior management team, the CEO will establish strategic and operational targets and standards for financial performance, safety and quality. The CEO will monitor operational activities through analysis and continual assessment of the organization s performance against defined targets. Prudent management of the organization s resources shall be accomplished by directing business unit managers to achieve more effective execution of strategic and tactical business plans, budgets, etc. Consistent with the long term strategic plan for the organization, the CEO will establish and lead a program for the recruitment, retention, training and development of competent senior leadership to expand business competencies. The CEO will sustain organizational stability through ongoing evaluation, implementation and continuous improvement of systems, controls, policies, processes, procedures, etc. Superior communication skills will be used to foster critical relationships with key external stakeholders in order to achieve critical support for the organizations initiatives. 6

7 LEADERSHIP AND VISION Expand a culture which embraces the mission, vision and values of the organization in order to enhance the firm s reputation with its employees, customers, suppliers and other key stakeholders. Work directly with senior business managers to develop multi-year strategic and business plans, and annual capital and operating budgets, in order to maximize revenue, financing capability, profitability of each unit, and support sustainable growth. Evaluate the performance of each business unit to ensure strategic alignment and operational compliance with established safety, quality and fiscal policies and goals. Evaluate performance of the Controller, Corporate Services and business unit managers along with such other senior staff as may be assigned to the CEO s office from time to time, and measure their contributions toward attaining defined objectives. Establish and lead a program for the recruitment, retention, training and development of competent senior leadership consistent with the long term strategic plan for the organization. Create and communicate a vision which will inspire and foster corporate-wide employee engagement to promote principles of collaboration, fiscal responsibility and build bridges. EXTERNAL ENGAGEMENT Strategically select and participate on industry and community boards, task forces, working groups, and attend events where networking with key community leaders will enhance the organization s profile in the community. POLICY DEVELOPMENT Oversee and direct development and review of policies, guidelines and procedures for all functional areas within the corporate portfolio 7

Relates to: (External) Senior Management of Affiliated Companies Municipal Government and community representatives Local Industry Leaders Banking Services Legal Counsel Consultants Architects, Engineers Other external stakeholders GENERAL CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS The ideal candidate will bring a strong record of achievement in leading the financial and operational affairs of a large, complex organization. A record of high integrity, high performance and strong operational leadership is required. Proven ability to encourage innovation and collaboration are essential to participate in and lead the development and implementation of the vision for the organization. SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS Education Completion of an advanced degree/designation in Business, Finance, Management, or Construction is required. Location Resides in or willing to relocate to Fort McMurray 8

9 Knowledge/Experience Functional Expertise: Five or more years of experience in a senior leadership role for a Medium sized enterprise organization with revenue exceeding $100M and a track record of consistent growth. Experience working with multiple companies Consistent track record in revenue growth Experience in the development of complex operational systems Business Acumen: Demonstrated ability to exercise sound professional judgment in making decisions on complex business issues, as well as day-to-day organizational matters, including resource management and prioritization. Demonstrated ability to apply the appropriate due diligence in reviewing contractual terms and conditions prior to executing contracts Industry Acumen: Experience within the construction industry is an asset.
