1 FROM THE MD & CEO s DESK Dear Readers RuPay s journey has been impactful since the day of its launch. We have had the privilege of dedicating the card to the nation by the hands of our Honourable President, Shri Pranab Mukherjee and later became associated with ambitious Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana. We are pleased to share that RuPay has also been opted as the card of choice for Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY) beneficiaries as well. Honourable Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi distributed Mudra RuPay Debit Cards to small loan beneficiaries in the state of Jharkhand on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti on October Mudra Yojana will ensure each small business unit s current/working capital requirement should be powered by Mudra Rupay card and more and more of their transactions will be through plastic currency or through the banking channel. We had organized first-of-its-kind e-payments Literacy Workshops at 120 locations pan India for more than participants to celebrate World Literacy Day in the month of September as we believe Financial Literacy for customers has the potential to bridge "India" with "Bharat". The month of September also welcomed IDFC Bank in our ecosystem as it commenced its operations with all the services of NPCI right from Day 1. UBI comes to be 1st Bank to issue RuPay Platinum International Debit Card and CTS recorded 5 Million transactions in volume whereas IMPS continues to empower more players in the payments arena. Shri Arun Jaitley recently mentioned that the JAM trinity (Jan Dhan, Aadhaar and Mobile) and the Direct Benefit Transfer of subsidies to the accounts of beneficiaries of various govt. schemes are some of the advanced steps towards curbing black money in the economy. 2 IDFC Bank commences its operations with robust NPCI services Customers of IDFC bank can now effortlessly utilize the interoperable network of over 2 lakh ATMs to withdraw cash, perform monetary transactions by means of plastic currency, transfer money instantly or simply write a cheque using NPCI s National Financial Switch, RuPay, IMPS and CTS services respectively. IDFC bank has commenced its operations from October 1, 2015, also enabled National Automated Clearing House service to perform high volume, electronic transactions and Aadhaar Enabled Payment Service. Mobile Banking Registration and Aadhaar Number Seeding services through ATMs In an attempt to enrich ATMs functionality and make it more efficient, NPCI has launched a pilot project with Punjab and Maharashtra Co-op Bank and Saraswat Co-op Bank to enable Mobile Banking Registration and seeding Aadhaar number through ATMs on September 15, NFS will serve an additional value added service that will empower customers with an additional channel to perform requests to mobile banking and seeding their Aadhaar number. UBI comes to be 1st Bank to issue RuPay Platinum International Debit Card Elite customers owning Rupay Platinum International Debit Card will now have the privilege to withdraw cash up to Rs 1 lakh at ATM and make purchases up to Rs 2 lakh at PoS and e-commerce among numerous entitled privileges. Shri P Srinivas, MD & CEO, United Bank of India unveiled the Platinum Card in the gracious presence of Shri Sanjay Arya, Executive Director, UBI and Shri Rajendran N, Chief Technology Officer, NPCI on September 24, 2015 at UBI Head Office in Kolkata. Four new Co-operative Banks went live on RuPay PoS Appreciating PoS as an important deliver channel for performing transactions, four new co-operative banks namely Quilon Urban Co-Operative Bank, Akhanand Anand Co-operative bank Ltd, The Chattisgarh State Co-Op Bank Ltd and The National Co-Operative Bank Ltd went live on RuPay PoS - issuer as sub member, presently there are over a million RuPay enabled PoS terminals. Indian Bank, Dena Bank and Tamil Nadu State Apex cooperative Bank implements varied RuPay services. Indian Bank has enabled EMV chip based RuPay debit card in the month of September whereas customers of Dena Bank can register their RuPay Debit card on their banks website as it is now live on RuPay Pay Secure Services. Dena Bank launched RuPay Mudra Card on 19th September In another development, Tamil Nadu State Apex Co-op Bank Ltd went live on RuPay as Direct member to enable their customers with seamless ATM transactions through RuPay card. RuPay is instrumental in creating a less-cash society, furthering the electronic payments system to make India a financial inclusive economy NPCI conducts its 7th Annual General Meeting Representatives of all shareholder banks attended Seventh Annual General Meeting of NPCI on September 21, 2015 in Mumbai.

3 NPCI organizes e-payment Literacy 120 locations 28 States, 120 Locations, Participants Financial Literacy workshops organized at 120 centres across India to celebrate World Literacy Day on September 8, 2015 First-of-its-kind e-payments Literacy Workshops' were organized pan India on the occasion of World Literacy Day. The nationwide event was simultaneously hosted by NPCI representatives across all 56 Regional Rural Banks locations, at 120 centres. More than participants took part and were benefited in the initiative at the same time. Participants who attended the workshop were familiarized with customs of ATMs and its numerous features like Cash Withdrawal, Balance Enquiry, Mini Statement enquiry etc. Consumer redressal advices and other precautionary tips on PIN change and Fund transfer were demonstrated. Security tips like mobile number registration, seeding Aadhaar with bank and LPG subsidy process were also presented. Payment solutions through RuPay card at PoS, e-comm, ATMs channels were encouraged along with NPCI s customer friendly fund transfer services. Shri Balachandran M, Chairman, NPCI launched the initiative on September 7, 2015 at a press Conference in Chennai and released A smart payments e-book Manual that was presented to banks across all locations by NPCI officials. The booklet contains 136 basic, relevant and easy to understand FAQs on ATM transactions, RuPay Debit Cards, PoS Usage, E-commerce transactions, IMPS (Immediate Payment Service), AEPS (Aadhaar Enabled Payment Service). The process and procedures through FAQs have been divided into 5 sections based on combination of payment products and NPCI s services like NFS (National Financial Switch), Debit Card, IMPS, AEPS and APBS (Aadhaar Payment Bridge System) which are meant to address the basic challenges faced by the consumers. The initiative was majorly aimed to ingrain digital and smart banking practices among rural societies and leverage the technical infrastructure that RRBs have, also to create awareness about the available facilities offered by NPCI. It was well appreciated by the banks as well as by the participants and wished similar sessions in future.

5 Banks embrace customized fastlane fund transfer services of IMPS IMPS fund transfers through Internet Banking channel using beneficiary Mobile number & MMID and Ac No and IFS code is now possible for Allahabad Bank customers as the bank has gone live on IMPS P2A and P2P over internet channel, UBI also went live on IMPS P2A over internet as remitter. Federal Bank has enabled same platforms over mobile channel. Kerala Gramin Bank and Pragati Krishna Gramin Bank have enabled P2P platform and State Bank of Travancore went live on IMPS P2A Kiosk terminal, ensuring all SBI associate banks enabled under the platform. In another development, SpiceMudra, newly a launched prepaid payment wallet focusing on domestic remittances, enterprise payments has been certified on IMPS ecosystem enabling their customers to send money to all bank accounts which are part of IMPS. National Automated Clearing House assists more banks To facilitate repetitive and periodic, interbank, high volume, electronic transactions in smooth fashion, DCB Bank has enabled Host to Host (H2H) automation of NACH which is a mechanism that allows seamless file transfers between Bank and Clearing House in a secured manner and provides Straight through Processing capabilities to participants. Allahabad Bank has also operationalised automated NACH Mandate Management System to collect the Allahabad Bank loan EMIs, electricity and other bulk repetitive utility bill collection across India. Bank had commenced pilot in Hyderabad and Mumbai region. CTS Volume cross 5 million transactions 5 million transactions in volume was recorded in Cheque Truncation System in the month of September 2015, it was the fourth occasion wherein such a milestone was re- achieved in CTS journey. Also, CTS Fraud Awareness workshop was conducted for Mumbai based banks on September 15, A Total of 82 banks attended the workshop wherein they shared their respective experiences of fraud cases, shared best practices and brainstormed on the steps taken to resolve the same. He expressed the significance of empowering more farmers with RuPay Kissan Cards so as to make use of it and encourage e-payments. MD & CEO addresses APABI International Conference 2015 A stimulating session on payment systems emphasizing on imminent opportunities and attendant challenges in the banking and payments arena was organized by Asia Pacific Association of Banking Institute (APABI). Shri A P Hota, MD & CEO of NPCI addressed the key gathering along with fellow esteemed panellists at the APABI International Conference 2015 that was themed at New Paradigms of Banking on September 23, 2015 in New Delhi.
