DR. MARSHALL WHITE Today, it can no longer be clearly determined, who invented the pallet, although the principle is simple. On the other hand, the implementation of the forklift truck which the American Eugene Clark brought to the market in 1924 after a long-term development, was not so easy. Only the combination of the use of forklift trucks and wooden load carriers brought about a revolution in the logistics of goods, which still characterizes all transport processes. Shortly after the introduction of pallet and forklift trucks, workers did not even need ten percent of the time required to load a vehicle. Through the time saved loading the vehicles transport costs could be significantly reduced a non-profit catalyst for global economic development in the 20th century. 4 6 RELIABILITY 7 Our constant RELIABILITY EUROBLOCK - THE INDUSTRY LEADER With four production plants and six sales outlets, Euroblock covers a market share of approx. 42% for composite pallet blocks. A BRILLIANT IDEA EQUALIZES THE PACKING WORLD The history of the composite block began in the 1970's, at that time the pallet industry faced a fundamental challenge: the demand for the composite blocks was great, however the raw material for the production of the composite block was hardly available although at this time there was an abundance of sawdust which was being disposed of. The resourceful entrepreneur Anton Heggenstaller finally came up with the idea of using the sawdust waste and thereby solved the supply issue which resulted in the manufacture of composite pallet blocks. With a lot of idealism and the necessary perseverance, the industry pioneer developed the pressing process in Unterbernbach, Germany and ultimately made the innovative product competitive. The continuous development work conclusively created a superior alternative to traditional wooden blocks. A product that fully meets the requirements of the modern logistics industry, has been developed. Also the development of the Presswood recycling composit blocks is a fine example of inventive entrepreneurship, for which we have to go back to the early sixties. Barend Vierhouten then started as a self-employed with the collection and processing of finished frying fats and oils. During this process the steam that had to be used was produced with steam-boilers. Due to the constanly rising oil prices, an alternative fuel was found in het incineration of recyling wood. The recycling wood was broken into different phases until it was the appropriate size for the incineration plant. Because the supply of recycling wood exceeded the need many times, other applications for the wood chips were considered. By utilizing the residue from the wood processing and the use of recycled wood, the composite block perfectly compliments the existing production and recycling cycle. The remaining wood for the Euroblock composite pallet block exclusively comes from sustainably cultivated local forests. Every year, more wood grows in Europe than that which is extracted. This and the efficient use of resources ensure that the renewable raw material remains available and usable to future generations. When a wooden product comes to the end of its life cycle, it can then begin another within the Presswood factory as the use of raw material. 6 10 PRODUCTION PROCESS 11 Euroblock THE ECOSTAR THE PRODUCTION PROCESS In the production process, the remaining and recycled wood is processed to the appropriate chip geometry. The technical drying subsequently provides a wood moisture content of less than 5%. Subsequently, coarse and fine chips are glued, mixed and pressed into a stable continuous strand in a specially developed process. Finally, cutting is carried out according to the requirements and needs of the required block height.
