1 Introduction Green Office Survey This survey has been developed to be as easy-to-follow as possible. While the main aim of the survey is to gather data on environmental performance and awareness at the University of Queensland, it also provides information regarding environmental issues and initiatives at the University. Please note that all sections of this survey are available as online survey tools, which is the preferred option, however this form may be completed as an alternative. If you would like to complete the survey online, send an request to and you will be provided with the links to the online forms. PART ONE: Walk-Through Survey Use this survey and walk through your School/Centre making observations as directed by the questions. To make the results meaningful, please try to survey an area that includes between five to ten different offices and at least one kitchenette or lunchroom. The best time to conduct this survey would be early in the morning or later in the afternoon, when less people are around for you to disturb (and vice-versa!). Please gain permission from your Manager before conducting the survey and let colleagues know that you are conducting a Green Office Survey as part of your role as a UQ Green Office Representative. When looking into occupied offices, ask for permission first. Please do not turn off or put stickers on any computer equipment and/or accessories that are not your personal responsibility. PART TWO: Interviews To save paper, please use the same copy of the interview questions for every interview the answer boxes have been designed to accommodate this. Alternatively, use an online survey tool. This section has been split into two components: A Purchasing Practices Survey to ascertain the level of environmentally preferred purchasing in your School/Section. This will generally be done through an interview with your purchasing officer. If your purchasing officer is too busy when approached, make a time to meet later. Again, be sure to inform them that you are conducting a Green Office Survey as part of your role as a UQ Green Office Representative. A series of one-to-one interviews with your colleagues that determines their level of awareness of, and participation in, environmentally sustainable office practices. Each interview should not take more than five minutes per person. The number of people that you will need to interview depends on the total number within your School/Section. The table on the right gives a good indication of the suggested number of people you should interview depending on your School/Section size. These surveys are an excellent opportunity to answer people s questions on environmental issues and initiatives at The University of Queensland. Each section of the one-to-one interview questionnaire is linked with relevant UQ Green Office themes available on UQ s Environmental Management System website, which you can use to answer any questions. School/Section Suggested sample size Thank you for your help and efforts!
