Eagle Lighting Australia s robust range is tailored to suit lighting applications where the requirements for impact resistance and protection rating are far greater than usual. For example, railway platforms and in subways where it always must be lit to provide a safe experience. Questions and answers about robust luminaires What is a robust luminaire? Most of the luminaires presented in this booklet have a protection rating of up to IP65. Not only does that mean the fitting can handle a high pressure jet but it is also dust resistant, which is often just as important in areas like car parks or garages. The range is also impact resistant to an IK10 rating, which is the highest level prescribed in the international standard IEC Our experience tells us that we should aim to exceed these standards. Many of our luminaires can resist up to 150 joules of mechanical impact, over 7.5 times greater than the 20 joules required to meet the IK10 standard. 3

4 Consider the following Resistance to mechanical force. In what environment will the luminaire be installed? At what height will it be placed? Will it be installed so low that it could be subject to physical attack? An underpass is one of the worst environments a luminaire can be installed in, while a luminaire positioned in a high awning will not be as exposed. Light sources. T5 or LED? The aim is complete freedom from maintenance. No matter which luminaire you choose from our Robust range you will get a fitting designed with a focus on energy efficiency and lifetime. Security. In all the luminaires in the Robust range we have prevented access by using Torx security screws. In exposed areas it prevents vandalism of the luminaire. In secure areas, it prevents people from harming themselves or others, as well as discouraging people from hiding items within the fittings. 5 Tuscan Range The Tuscan range are a versatile family of luminaires designed to withstand extreme physical attack. With heavy gauge steel bodies, a polycarbonate diffuser and tamperproof screws, the Tuscan range is suitable for subways, platforms, schools and pedestrian walkways. 7 Tampa T5 Recessed Tampa T5 features a polycarbonate clear cover that sandwiches the optical diffuser to the frame by the means of tamperproof screws. A robust, vandal resistant luminaire, Tampa T5 is suitable for indoor applications as diverse as correctional facilities, public housing, changing rooms, and other areas prone to vandalism.
