ADVANTAGES Easy application. Fast. Complete system of products. Hygienic. CERTIFICATIONS SINTEF NR MK 7.2/ MK 7.3/ RECOMMENDATIONS Do not install SHOWER SYSTEM 4 LVT¹ at temperatures lower than +15 C. SHOWER SYSTEM 4 LVT¹ can not be left exposed, therefore has to be covered by a LVT. All the in force national peculiarities and guidelines have to be observed. Do not apply any smoothing layer, with the exception of PLANIPREP 4 LVT used featheredge, on top of the waterproofing membrane. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Preparation of the substrate The substrate must be dry, stable, sound, flat and free from loose particles and other materials, which may inhibit adhesion. Remove all cement laitance, flaking areas and traces of powder, grease, wax, paint etc. All cracks wider than 0.2 mm must be repaired beforehand with EPORIP, EPORIP TURBO or EPORIP SCR. Existing floors and those tiled with ceramic, porcelain, klinker or terracotta tiles, etc., must be well bonded to the substrate and be free from substances which could affect the adhesion, such as grease, oil, wax, paint, etc. Old cleaning layers or hydro-layers have to be removed mechanically. Uneven cementitious substrates or ceramic surfaces with wide joints need to be smoothed off and repaired with suitable MAPEI products (for instance PLANIPREP 4 LVT, PLANEX HR, PLANEX HR MAXI, PIANOCEM mixed with LATEX PLUS diluted 1:3 with water, ADESILEX P4, PLANITOP FAST 330 in any case, please refer to the MAPEI general catalogue). The above mentioned products can be used also to create and adjust slopes. Gypsum based substrates such as calcium sulphate screeds, plasterboard or gypsum plaster as well as absorbent surfaces made of concrete, aerated concrete, cement mortar and cement render must be primed, before laying MAPEGUARD WP200, with ECO PRIM T, ECO PRIM T PLUS or PRIMER G at the appropriate dilution (refer to the relevant technical data sheet for information). Non-absorbent substrates such as ceramic tiles or natural stone surfaces must be primed with ECO PRIM T, ECO PRIM T PLUS or ECO PRIM GRIP. Installation of MAPEGUARD WP SYSTEM MAPEGUARD WP 200 must be cut to size before being bonded. Use for bonding MAPEGUARD WP 200 onto the substrate by using a long hair roller. Sign on the substrate the wide of the sheets and apply the adhesive within the wide of the sheet. For application details please refer to the pertinent technical data sheet. MAPEGUARD WP 200 must be laid over the fresh adhesive and pressed down uniformly, from the centre to the edges, in order to avoid trapping air bubbles under

3 the waterproofing membrane. The overlap between MAPEGUARD WP 200 sheets must be minimum 5 cm wide and must be sealed with applied with a brush or long hair roller. Seal all the junctions between floors and walls with MAPEGUARD ST laid directly onto MAPEGUARD WP 200 with. Waterproof the internal and external corners with MAPEGUARD IC and MAPEGUARD EC bonded with onto the membrane. All pipes must be waterproofed by using the special accessories MAPEGUARD PC bonded with MAPEGUARD WP ADHESIVE on the membrane. Before installing the membrane around the perimeter of the drain, MAPEFLEX MS 45 must be applied in order to achieve an adequate seal to the junction. If during the drying time of 3 hours some bubbles occur in the sheets of MAPEGUARD WP 200, press them down to substrate once more. Let MAPEGUARD WP ADHESIVE to dry for at least 3 hours. If there remain any uneveness in the surface, this can be smoothed slightly with PLANIPREP 4 LVT (used featheredged). BONDING AND GROUTING THE LVT After the application of the waterproofing membrane, it is possible to proceed earliest after 3 hours of drying time with the installation of LVT. The floor covering must be recommended for usage in wet areas by the manufacturer. Follow the manufacturer s instructions. Use ULTRABOND ECO MS 4 LVT WALL (applied with Mapei nr.1 or TKB A2 trowel- in case of LVT with impervious or not even backings, use Mapei nr.2 or 3 or TKB B1 trowels) to lay down the flooring onto MAPEGUARD WP 200 on floors and walls. Apply as much adhesive as can be covered before a surface skin is formed (approx. 20 minutes at +23 C / 50% R.H.) in order to guarantee a suitable transfer to the backing of the covering. After some minutes installing the floor and wall covering, it is always necessary to firmly rub it down. In order to create a special look, lay the tiles with SPACERS 4 LVT and use KERAPOXY 4 LVT (after hours) to grout the joints. The joints must be dry, clean, free of dust and empty; any adhesive which has seeped into the joints while laying the LVT must be removed while still fresh. Before grouting, make sure the adhesive has set. For the preparation of the product, pour the catalyser (part B) into the container of part A and mix well until a smooth paste is obtained. Use the mix within 45 minutes of preparation. Spread KERAPOXY 4 LVT over the surface of the LVT with a special MAPEI grout float, making sure that the joints are filled right down to the bottom. With the edge of the same float, strike off excess material. After grouting with KERAPOXY 4 LVT, floor finishes must be cleaned while the grout is still fresh. Cleaning of the joints may be carried out using a small amount of water and an abrasive sponge for cleaning joints (such as Scotch-Brite or MAPEI tile-joints cleaning kit), followed by a cellulose sponge (MAPEI sponge, for example), taking care to avoid removing grout from the joints. The sponge must be saturated with water when cleaning finishes. The residual liquid may be removed with the same sponge, which must be replaced when it becomes too impregnated with resin, and the same technique may be used when finishing off the grouted joints. After the finishing operation, it is very important that no traces of KERAPOXY 4 LVT remain on the surface. Once hardened, it is very difficult to remove. Therefore, rinse the sponge often with clean water during cleaning. KERAPOXY CLEANER (special cleaning solution for epoxy grouts) may also be used for the final cleaning cycle and may also be used to remove thin residues of grout up to several hours after application. In this case, the product must be left to react for longer (at least minutes). Application of the anti-slip finish MAPECOAT 4 LVT and sealing After hours from the application of KERAPOXY 4 LVT, apply one coat of MAPECOAT 4 LVT to seal the joints and provide a non-slip finish on the surface of the tiles (these waiting times can be reduced to hours in case the installation of LVT is carried out without joints). The surface must be clean and dry and have no traces of oil, wax or any other contaminant. Remove any waste material or traces of adhesive that could affect adhesion from the surface with a red or green ULTRACOAT PAD. Shake component A before use and pour the product into a suitable clean basin. Add component B at a ratio of comp. A : comp. B = 5 : 1 (in weight) and mix thoroughly until completely blended. Apply the mix within 2 hours of blending. Leave the product to stand for 5-10 minutes before applying one coat by mean of a shorthaired roller (such as ULTRACOAT ROLLER T3) or the airless spray system. Floors can be subject to light foot traffic after 16 hours and showers can be put in service after 24 hours. The expansion / movement joints must be sealed with MAPESIL AC after the application of MAPECOAT 4 LVT. In any case follow the instructions given in the Technical Data Sheet of the products mentioned above. NOTES Recommendations regarding safe use and handling of the products are contained in the Material Safety Data Sheet for each single material in the cycle. However, the use of protective gloves and goggles is recommended when mixing and applying the products. If the cycle is applied on surfaces, in climatic conditions and/or for final uses not mentioned above, please contact the Technical Services Department.
