1 Class Title: Technician - Landfill LSA Status: Non-Exempt BRIE DESCRIPTION: The essential duties of this position include monitoring and sampling of landfill gas equipment, leachate collection system, load checking, waste screening, refrigerant removal, on-sight first responder for waste incidents, responsibility for the division safety and inspection program, and the preparation of reports and maintaining records. Maintaining the well field by re-starting the flare and dewatering wells as needed, coordinating repairs and scheduling maintenance, communicate findings and maintain records in accordance with the facility s Landfill Gas Management Plan. 2 M Perform environmental compliance tasks associated with Leachate collection system and riser, which include but are not limited to taking fluid measurements at leachate riser, reporting pump failures, coordinating repairs, maintaining records and communicating findings. 3 M Participate in load checking/waste screening program as needed and contribute to any on-site first response to spilled materials or contaminant removal in accordance with the facility s Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures Plan. Collects storm-water samples and perform various inspections associated with the Site Operating Plan. 4 L Responsible for the division safety and inspection program, preparation of reports and maintenance of records. 2 JOB REQUIREMENTS: ormal Education / Knowledge Experience Certification and Other Requirements Reading Math Writing Managerial Budget Responsibility Supervisory / Organizational Control Complexity Interpersonal / Human Relations Skills JOB REQUIREMENTS Requires a high school diploma or GED and 6+ months advanced study or training at the junior college, vocational, business, technical or correspondence school level and 1+ year's related landfill operations experience. Over 1 year experience. Experience in landfill operations preferred Valid Texas Class C driver s license required. Must be able to obtain an EPA Type 1 reon Removal Certification, a Solid Waste Class C license, and Waste Screening certification within 6 months of employment. Intermediate - Ability to read papers, periodicals, journals, manuals, dictionaries, thesauruses, and encyclopedias. Ordinarily, such education is obtained in high school up to college. However, it may be obtained from experience and self-study. Intermediate - Ability to deal with system of real numbers; practical application of fractions, percentages, ratios/proportions and measurement. Ordinarily, such education is obtained in high school up to college. However, it may be obtained from experience and selfstudy. Intermediate - Ability to write reports, prepare business letters, expositions, and summaries with proper format, punctuation, spelling, and grammar, using all parts of speech. Ordinarily, such education is obtained in high school up to college. However, it may be obtained from experience and self-study. Receives general direction: The employee normally performs the job by following established standard operating procedures and/or policies. The employee may choose the appropriate procedure or policy. Performance is reviewed periodically.
