1 Doc. STI 261/2 February 1984 SCHEME OF TESTING AND INSPECTION FOR CERTIFICATION OF COPPER SULPHATE ACCORDING TO IS : Laboratory A laboratory shall be maintained, which shall be suitably equipped and staffed where different tests given in the specification shall be carried out. 2 Test Records - All records of tests shall be kept in suitable forms approved by the Institution. 2.1 Copies of any records or charts that may be required by the Bureau shall be made available at any time on request. 2.2 It is recommended that, as far as possible, statistical quality control (SQC) methods may be used for controlling quality during production as envisaged in this scheme [See IS 397 (Part I) : IS 397 (Part II)- 1975]. 3. Standard Mark The Standards Mark as given in column (1) of the first in schedule of the license shall be applied on each container of copper Sulphate; provided always that the material in each container to which this mark is applied conforms to every requirement of the specification. 4. Marking In addition, the following information shall be given on the container a) Name and grade of material; b) Manufacturer s name and recognized trade mark, if any; c) Gross and net mass; d) Date of manufacturer; e) Batch No. (control unit No.); f) Made in India, if required. 5. Levels of Controls The tests on copper sulphate as indicated in Table 1 and at the levels of control specified therein, shall be carried out on the whole production of the factory covered by this Scheme and appropriate records and charts maintained in accordance with paragraph 2 above. All the production which conforms to the Indian Standards and covered by this license shall be marked with ISI Certification Mark. 5.1 Control Unit For the purpose of this scheme, the quantity of the material of the same grade produced in a day shall constitute a batch (Control Unit).

2 5.1 On the basis of the test and analysis results, decision regarding the conformity or otherwise of a batch of production to the requirement of the specification shall be made as follows Two samples from a control unit one from the initial stage and the second from the final stage of crystallization shall be tested for copper content and both shall satisfy the requirements In case any sample fails to the entire material in the control unit may be suitably reprocessed and the defect rectified. Such reprocessed material when tested again as above shall satisfy the requirement of copper content before it is used for marking A sample shall be tested from a batch (Control Unit) and tested for the remaining requirements given in Table I of IS: If the sample fails in any of those requirements the entire material represented by the sample may be suitably reprocessed and the defect rectified. Such reprocessed material when tested again shall satisfy all the above requirements before it is used for marking. 6. Raw Material Routine analysis of each consignment of raw materials, received in the factory shall be carried out and appropriate records maintained. 7. In respect of all other clauses of the specification and at all stages of production appropriate controls and checks shall be maintained so as to ensure that the product conforms to the requirements of these clauses. 8. Rejection A separate record shall be maintained giving information relating to the rejection of the production not conforming to the requirements of the specification and the method of its disposal. Such material, in any case, shall be stored together with that conforming to the requirements of the specification. 9. Samples The licensee shall supply, free of charge, the samples required in accordance with Regulation 10 of the Indian Standards Institution (Certification Marks) Regulation, 1955, as subsequently amended, from his factory or godown. The Institution shall pay for the samples taken by it from the open market. 10. Replacement Whenever a complaint is received soon after the goods with ISI Mark have been purchased and used, and if there is adequate evidence that the goods have not misused, defective goods or their components shall be replaced free of cost by the licensee in case the complaint is proved to be genuine and the warranty period (Where applicable) has not expired. The final authority to judge conformity of the product to the Indian Standards shall be with the Institution.

3 11 Suspension of Marking The marking of the product shall be suspended under intimation to the Institution if, at any time there is some difficulty in maintaining the conformity of the product to the specification, or the testing equipment goes out of order, or if directed to do so by the Institution for any reason. The marking may be resumed as soon as the defects are removed or when the Bureau gives the permission to do so. The information regarding resumption of marking shall also be sent to the Institution. 12. Production Data The licensee shall send to the Institution, as per the enclosed Performa a statement of quantity produced marked and exported by him and the trade value thereof during the half year ending 30 June and 31 December. This statement is required to be forwarded to the Bureau on or before 31 st day of July and January for preceding half-year.
