1 INDUSTRIAL FLUIDS

2 Manufacturers including primary and secondary producers have a common goal. They all need to make the highest quality products at the most competitive cost while maintaining the highest health and safety standards. Founded in 1946, Magnus is a private Canadian company that develops manufactures and markets integrated chemical, equipment and service solutions for commercial and industrial water treatment and metalworking applications. Magnus is committed, through continuous innovation, exceptional service, and by continuously developing our technical expertise, to bring forward value added and eco-proactive solutions aimed at optimizing our customer s performance and preserving the environment. Magnus has a team of experts dedicated to improving your product quality, operating efficiency and health, safety and environmental compliance. Our goal is to provide you with solutions that enhance your bottom line through strategic partnering and problem solving. The objective is a maximum return on your investment. Quality service is the key to the entire process. We provide our customers access to technical and analytical resources aimed at helping them increase their operational efficiency. Our goal is to ensure your complete satisfaction. Increase your performance!

3 Material removal Machining fluids are an important component of metalworking operations. They improve machinability, increase productivity and extend tool life by cooling and lubricating parts and cutting tools. Magnus offers a complete line of high performance machining fluids for various applications. In machining operations, like milling or sawing, the application of a lubricant is critical to ensure the integrity of the surface, the quality of the cut and to prolong tool life. There are many demands on a lubricant in the metal removal process, some are complimentary some are contradictory; the correct choice of a lubricant is often a compromise of the desired characteristics requires for a set operation. Grinding Broaching Tapping Drilling Milling Sawing Gun Drilling Honing Deformation Lubricants used in metal deformation focus primarily on lubrication and tool and die wear resistance properties, however a host of other requirements must be considered depending on the specific application. In steel wire drawing for example, high slip and wear resistance are necessary; however residual corrosion resistance is also a requirement so that the final product and equipment do not rust. Magnus wire drawing lubricants provides excellent cooling properties in addition to lubrication. Magnus lubricants are formulated to provide the desired surface finish and die life in deformation application to maximize production speeds and reduce downtime. Magnus develops MQL lubricants that improve surface finish, reduce product consumption and are compatible with the environment. Magnus has developed a sophisticated family of lubricants targeted to respond to the many different requirements faced by the metal deformation market. 4 Surface preparation and cleaning Industrial cleaning basically entails the removal of any unwanted soil from a surface. Those soils can be organic in nature, such as oil, grease, carbon, paint or wax, or inorganic, such as rust, water scale, heat scale, tarnish, or other oxides. The understanding of the soils and their cleaning requirements, as well as the chemical resistance of the surface from which we are removing the soils, is essential for choosing a cleaning product. Magnus has a full line of industrial cleaners that address the requirements of today s cleaning. Degreasing Descaling Derusting Decarbonizing Deburring Paint stripping Dewaxing Corrosion Inhibition Vibratory finishing General cleaning Etching Cement dissolving For industrial cleaning equipment, you can count on Magnus for top of the line systems adapted to your requirements. Magnus has been recommending and selling equipment for over 60 years. Alcan An extruder of aluminum was experiencing difficulty in extruding billets from a major aluminum mill. Research indicated that residues from the lubricant used on the aluminum mill s circular saws was incompatible with the water graphite suspension used in the extrusion process, resulting in a large amount of rejects and scrap. Magnus chemists consulted with the extruder and the aluminum mill, and consequently developed a lubricant that is compatible with the graphite suspension, does not form troublesome varnishes, and does not form residues that can interfere with the annealing process. The extruder was able to resume full production capacity, rejects and scrap were reduced to minimal levels. Magnus has a rich history in the supply of industrial parts cleaning systems using specialized immersion cleaning technology. Standard and custom systems are engineered for parts cleaning, degreasing and metal processing using both aqueous and solvent systems with or without ultrasonic assisted cleaning are available. Parts cleaned range from tiny intricate precision items to entire engine blocks to spools of wire. Magnus expertise starts with application development. Our cleaning processes maximize cleaning effectiveness with minimal chemical and water usage and waste generation. This quality-focused attitude transpires in construction of our robust cleaning systems. Magnus has developed a sophisticated family of lubricants targeted at the drawing of aluminum into coiled sheet stock, which will then be roll formed into aluminum foil.

5 Mission & Quality Statement The Magnus mission is to be a leader in the field of integrated chemical and mechanical solutions. Our quality policy is to develop, manufacture and deliver on time and at the best cost consistently high quality products and services that meet or exceed the needs and expectations of our customers, and to provide reliable traceability for all material and methods used in our manufacturing processes.
