1 Project Management Training Brochure We develop project management training sessions by integrating our 40 years of combined practitioner experience with the most current project management knowledgebase such as A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK Guide) 5 th Edition by the Project Management Institute (PMI ). For more than 25 years, the PMBOK Guide has been a global standard for project management professionals. This training will provide advanced knowledge, practical skills, in-depth concepts, and techniques that can be applied to successfully manage projects and programs. The training is based on the global standards of the Project Management Institute and can be tailored for any project or organization. Below are the standardized descriptions for the 2013 Project Management Training modules. We work with our clients to understand their organization s project management maturity level and their requirements to customize the training for maximizing benefits. The project management training curriculum, including the learning objectives, level of detail, class durations, and selection of class exercises can be tailored to meet our client s requirements. We will teach the fundamentals of project management principles and will augment the lectures with our extensive experience as project management practitioners. We include several case studies using real life projects to explain how project management processes were applied at various stages of the project lifecycle and their outcomes. A handbook, including the presentation materials, class exercises, case studies, project management tools and templates will be provided to all attendees. In addition, we confirm student understanding of the material with an informal multiple-choice quiz at the end of each module. For those students who may be interested in future certification, these quizzes also provide exposure to the types of questions used on the PMI s Project Management Professional (PMP ) certification exam. Module I Project Management Overview This module provides an in depth review of the overall framework of project management as recommended by the PMI in the PMBOK Guide. This module discusses the definitions of a project, program, portfolio, project lifecycle, and other standard project management vocabulary. We will discuss the five project management process groups, 10 knowledge areas, and 47 project management processes. This module discusses various organizational structures and their potential effects on project outcome. It reviews the project charter development, the project management plan, change control processes, project closeout, and development of lessons learned; we will discuss how these processes affect project success. This module also discusses how project success is influenced by various organizational structures. We will discuss how to effectively perform integrated change control from inception to closing of a project to ensure integrity of the project baseline. Module III Project Scope Management Module III explains the processes to develop and manage project scope. This will include defining and documenting project stakeholders, project requirements, and how to prevent scope creep. We will also discuss how to create a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) to improve project definition. Attendees will learn how to effectively collect project requirements, develop the scope of work, manage the WBS, define work packages, and set baselines. Lastly, we will explain the processes for formalizing the project and product acceptance processes so the project team can determine whether project objectives are met. Module IV Project Time Management Module IV reviews how to define, organize, and plan project activities to complete project deliverables in a timely manner. We will discuss how to estimate the type and quantity of resources; develop and control the project schedule; and learn the critical path method for identifying time-sensitive activities. This module will introduce tools and techniques for schedule development, monitoring and controlling, performance reporting, and schedule recovery. We will discuss how to develop an integrated project schedule for establishing performance measurement baseline. Prepared by: Project Planning & Management, LLC 5/11/13 Page 2

An in-depth review of EVM technique will be performed to measure project performance by integrating scope, schedule, and cost. Project cost control and forecasting techniques will be discussed. Module VI Project Risk Management Module VI focuses on project risk including planning for risk, identifying risk, and monitoring and controlling risk. We will explain qualitative and quantitative techniques for analyzing risk and gain an understanding of appropriate risk response planning and budgeting. A detailed Risk Register development process and steps will be discussed. This module will discuss various risk response options for positive and negative risks and how to develop a strategy to enhance the opportunity for project success. We will discuss how to develop the risk response plan and to estimate contingency cost for managing project risks. Risk monitoring and controlling techniques will be reviewed. We will identify various project communications issues, styles, barriers, and how to overcome communications problems. We will discuss how to manage stakeholder expectations to improve the likelihood of project success and also discuss the importance of performance reporting. We will review the communications management plan development processes. This module will review project performance reports to communicate a comparison of actual project status with the performance measurement baseline.
