10 So what are we doing about it? Developed with stakeholders and agreed with trade unions. Sets out to support creation of: An engaged workforce aligned and committed to the delivery of the vision for NHS Wales A sustainable and skilled workforce focussed on helping the people of Wales to improve their health as well as treating sickness A redesigned workforce working together to deliver healthcare for the 21st Century A workforce that aims at excellence everywhere within available resources

13 Can we see improvements yet? focusing on appraisals in Powys Health Board The national survey found that only 55% of staff had had an appraisal or performance review & only around half of them felt it helped them improve how they did their job

14 Achieving employee engagement What success looks like Admiral Insurance report, that: 96% of employees are proud to be associated with them; 92% of employees believe that Admiral takes an active interest in their health and well-being. Cardiff Metropolitan University benefitted from a 32% reduction in the number of days lost to sickness absence. Monmouthshire Housing Association achieved a reduction in sickness absence, and increases in staff engagement and customer satisfaction.
