12 Social Responsibility As a nation, the United States wastes over 34 million tons of food a year. Morgan County Food Rescue partners with local restaurants and stores to "rescue" leftover food that they would be required by law to dispose of. MCFR then uses this food to prepare nutritious meals for non profit social service organizations. XFMRS is proud to partner with and sponsor Morgan County Food Rescue in an effort to provide relief for the homeless and hungry. MCFR rescued over 300,000 pounds of food in 2013, providing over 600,000 hot meals to those less fortunate in our area. XFMRS organizes an annual winter coat drive to help the less fortunate in the central Indiana area. We also led Walmart's Fill the Truck toy drive in our area, providing toys to children who would have not otherwise received Christmas gifts.
