2 Finance Manager Permanent 4 days per week Salary is in the range of 27,000 to 31,000 (pro rata) depending on experience. Based Edinburgh City Centre The Social Enterprise Academy helps thousands of people to develop themselves and their organisations so that they can change the world for the better. Through dynamic learning and development programmes facilitated by our network of skilled tutors, we help entrepreneurship and leadership to flourish in organisations, networks, schools and colleges. We work with social entrepreneurs, chief executives, frontline teams, community groups, young people in and out of education and many others to support them to effect positive social change. We are looking for a talented Finance Manager to lead the finance function within the Academy. As a strategic thinker you will take a leading role in shaping the future direction of finance reporting for the organisation. You will be joining the Academy at an exceptionally exciting time as we develop as a social franchise and expand delivery of our programmes internationally. Your role will be to collect, analyse and report on key financial data across the organisation. It will be critical in supporting the successful, sustainable implementation of our strategic business plan. 3 Job Purpose 1. Manage and maintain the integrity of the finance function for the company and its subsidiary(s) 2. Reporting and analysis of key financial information to the CEO, managers and the Board of Directors on a timely and accurate basis 3. Prepare short to medium term (1 to 5 years) plans including profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flows Job Description Financial Management Produce timely and reliable management information reports on a monthly and quarterly basis Cash management and regular cash flow updates Prepare and present financial data for the quarterly Finance Sub Committee meetings with the Finance Director and prepare finance reports for quarterly board meetings Profit Centre analysis and reporting and preparation of Key Performance Statistical Data. Prepare year end accounts to FRS102 standards including profit & loss, balance sheet, cash flows and supporting information. Plan the annual audit and liaise with the auditors. Deal with Companies House and prepare all Company and OSCR returns. Manage and control Sage accounting system across multiple sites to ensure that accounting information is effectively managed. Ensure the correct VAT treatment is applied to all transactions in the company s subsidiary and submit quarterly Vat Returns. Supporting Business Development Be actively engaged in projects to develop new funding streams for the company Make appropriate recommendations and advise on the impact on the business Review and maintain costing models for the business. Prepare ad hoc financial projections and data on request Provide support to all Business Development Teams and sub groups to develop appropriately costed proposals and funding applications as required. Liaise with the Managing Director of SEA International C.I.C. on all matters financial and the growth of the company in general Liaise with our Inverness office regarding any matters of a financial matter Personnel and Organisation Management Line manage the Finance Administrator Act as mentor to fellow managers and staff on the principles of finance and report interpretation Contribute, as an integral member of the management team, to the development and success of the Social Enterprise Academy

4 Person Specification This is a critical role in the organisation and we are therefore looking for someone who is keen to work with a vibrant, entrepreneurial and dedicated group of people and that has a good value-fit with our organisation. Essential Fully qualified member of one of the recognised professional accountancy bodies or part qualified with considerable experience Demonstrable experience of working in management accounting and financial management Good knowledge of budgeting and forecasting techniques Experience of working with VAT Excellent IT skills: with specific experience of using Excel spreadsheets Experience of using Sage accounting software Good interpersonal and communication skills Sound organisational skills and attention to detail Commitment to the values of social enterprise An understanding of and commitment to equality of opportunity Desirable A qualification at degree level (or equivalent) Experience of providing mentoring support to colleagues Values & Attributes A proactive and positive work ethic with strong team-working skills Creative, enthusiastic and determined to produce high quality work Reliable, responsive and able to prioritise Friendly and able to build good relationships Able to contribute your ideas and respond to feedback A positive spirit and keen to learn new things and develop further

5 Management and Supervision The Academy operates a matrix structure, with a core team supporting our hubs in southern Scotland and the Highlands and Islands, as well as international partner hubs. This post is part of the Core Team and has line management responsibility for a part-time Finance Administrator. The successful candidate will report to the Chief Executive, and will work closely with other managers to support the organisation s strategic development. How to Apply 1.
