2 Training Programmes at ICAR-CIFA The ICAR-Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture (ICAR-CIFA) is a premier Institute in freshwater aquaculture in India under the administrative control of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi. The Institute is also the Regional Lead Centre on 'Carp Farming in India' under Network of Aquaculture Centres in Asia-Pacific (NACA), Bangkok. ICAR-CIFA is undertaking research on basic and applied aspects of carps, air-breathing fishes, freshwater prawns and molluscs. The Institute has well-experienced research faculty in various domains of aquaculture. It possesses fully equipped laboratories in the disciplines of finfish and shellfish breeding including ornamental fishes, fish physiology, nutrition, genetics, biotechnology, nanotechnology, proteomics, microbiology, pathology, engineering, economics, statistics and extension. To impart the knowledge and skill to the stakeholders in the aquaculture sector, ICAR-CIFA regularly organises training programs on different topics. The training programmes are customised to fit the demands of the industry's needs. The interested stakeholders can undergo the trainings to enrich their capabilities. Eligibility Officers of state department of fisheries, Scientists of Krishi Vigyan Kendras, NGO functionaries, enterprenuers, farmers and others. Duration Most of the programmes are for 3-7 days. The fees range from Rs 3000 Rs 8000 based on the training program. Nomination and Selection All the employed candidates should apply through the proper channel along with a brief biodata. In case of others, direct applications are also received. The campus is about 20 minutes drive (~10 km) from the Bhubaneswar Railway station and 20 minutes' drive (~11 km) from the Biju Patnaik Airport.
