2 Job Title: Reporting to: Works with: Assistant Producer, Learning & Participation Programme Producer, Learning & Participation Works closely with colleagues in L&P, Marketing, Finance, Hires and Events, Technical and Operations. Salary: 18,000 Job Purpose To assist in the delivery of the Learning and Participation (L&P) programme, in collaboration with the filmmaking teams, so that the programme is implemented effectively and meets the department s objectives. Note: some evening and weekend work may be required, as well as overnight stays to support residential programmes. About Tyneside Cinema Tyneside Cinema occupies a beautiful, art-deco, Grade II listed building on a prime city centre site in the heart of Newcastle where it has stood for 80 years. Built by Dixon Scott, great uncle of film directors Sir Ridley and Tony Scott, it opened in 1937 as a Newsreel Theatre. The last decade has seen two significant capital projects that have sensitively restored and expanded the building; preserving its heritage, increasing screen capacity and improving the food and beverage offer. The Cinema has 4 auditoria seating 510 people, several meeting/workshop spaces and operates 3 on-site barcafes. It welcomes 500,000 visitors to the building each year, and achieves cinema audiences of 190,000, making it one of the largest and most successful independent cultural cinemas in the UK. The Cinema plays a vital role in the creative economy of the City, employing over 130 staff across the charity and trading company. Learning and Participation Tyneside Cinema s Learning & Participation department delivers film watching and filmmaking activity to over 5000 children and young people aged 8-24 from across the northeast and beyond every year. Our programme includes one-day workshops for schools, weeklong holiday film camps for the public, three intensive twelve-week academies exploring documentary, fiction and artist film and talent development opportunities for graduates to bridge the gap between education and the creative industries. Between 2015 and 2018 we produced 72 short films made by young artists for Channel 4 as part of the Arts Council England funded strand Random Acts and most recently we received The Centre Award at the Royal Television Society North East and Borders Awards in recognition of our significant and lasting impact on the television, film and creative industries of the region. Assistant Producer, Key Responsibilities: 1. Communicate with schools, the public and participants to manage the booking and application process for events and programmes to ensure activities are fully booked with appropriate and well-informed participants. 2. Accurately capture and collate participant data and statistics and contribute to the writing of reports and evaluation that enables the effectiveness of the L&P programme to be measured and identify improvements for future programmes. 3. Identify and co-ordinate resources, including L&P teams, other Tyneside departments and external stakeholders, so that the right people are in the right place at the right time to deliver L&P activities.

4 4. Manage programme and event schedules and follow protocols so that the L&P programme can be resourced and delivered effectively. 5. Assist in the delivery of L&P activity - including production management of Academy programmes and supporting the delivery of qualifications - to ensure it is delivered effectively. 6. Assist with production activity for Northern Stars Production (NSP) to ensure work is delivered effectively and financial targets are achieved. 7. Contribute to the delivery of L&P s marketing and communications strategy including social media across L&P and NSP activity and communicating with programme alumni to keep them engaged and informed about further opportunities. 8. Monitor and update the L&P programme budget to ensure the L&P team have accurate up-to-date financial information to work from. 9. Contribute to fundraising proposals. 10. Any other duties as reasonably requested to fulfil the business objectives of the company. Person Specification Skills, experience and personal qualities Essential Passionate about working with children and young people. Highly organised and capable of managing a complex workload. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Project management skills, including organisation, presentation and attention to detail. Filmmaking experience, preferably in the production department. Good knowledge of film production processes and practices. Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work collaboratively, in partnership or to lead a team. Excellent ability to accurately capture and process data. Digital skills including knowledge of appropriate software including Microsoft Office and social media platforms. An interest in participatory arts practice and cultural education.

5 Broad knowledge of film and artist moving image culture. Desirable Experience in facilitating filmmaking activities with children and young people Clean driving license Safeguarding The post holder will be required to undertake an Enhanced DBS check.
