This system has proven to not only improve energy efficiency but also to improve security Installation of improved valve systems, high efficiency pumps and motors and VFDs where applicable should be considered for heating and domestic hot and cold water systems. These measures, which can reduce maintenance costs and energy consumption, are supported by utility incentives

19 Hi-RIS Financing Eligibility Criteria: Buildings of 5 storeys or more in the City of Toronto Good standing with the City for the past five years Comply with existing financial obligations File an Energy Assessment Report
20 Hi-RIS Financing Hi-RIS can cover: Mechanical system improvements: e.g. boilers, booster pumps, building automation systems, make-up air units, garage exhaust fan & CO controls, heat/energy recovery ventilators, heat pumps, cooling system upgrades, rad reflectors, etc. Lighting system improvements: e.g. high-efficiency lighting and controls, etc. Building envelope improvements: e.g. windows/balcony door replacements, window/door caulking, exterior wall cladding, balcony enclosures, solar air heating systems, insulated roofing, etc. Water conservation improvements: e.g. low flow/ultra low flow toilets.
