United States and Canadian Cattle Inventory Up Percent All cattle and calves in the United States and Canada combined totaled 6 million head on July, 208, up percent from the 5 million head on July, 207. All cows and heifers that have calved, at 46.6 million head, were up percent from a year ago. All cattle and calves in the United States as of July, 208, totaled 03 million head, percent above the 02 million head on July, 207. All cows and heifers that have calved, at 4.9 million head, were up percent from a year ago. All cattle and calves in Canada as of July, 208, totaled 2.4 million head, down percent from the 2.5 million head on July, 207. All cows and heifers that have calved, at 4.70 million head, were down percent from a year ago.
