8 INDIGENOUS EMPLOYMENT AT MCD We have a unique opportunity and obligation many of our projects operate in traditional lands. We are guests on those lands Strong history of indigenous employment on projects across Australia, as well as in other locations (NZ, PNG, Pacific Islands) Murray Basin Rail case study (regional Victoria): McConnell Dowell used industry best practices on the current Murray Basin Rail project, firmly committed to closing the gap. Our aboriginal employment rate on the Murray Basin Rail project exceeded 38 per cent, surpassing the industry average and the project s contractual target of 15 per cent. Presentation 8

9 INDIGENOUS EMPLOYMENT AT MCD Northern Gas Pipeline case study (Northern Territory): McConnell Dowell achieved 100% local content for development of the stockpile laydown yard for the Northern Gas Pipeline Project (NGP). The NGP project received over 33,800 free issued pipes at our Tennant Creek Stockpile yard. McConnell Dowell appointed two local subcontractors to construct the laydown yard which included a scope to carry out a minor upgrade of the Stuart Highway to allow for a truck turning lane for the extendable trailers to safely enter the site. This Laydown yard construction resulted in providing 39 job opportunities for local participation. In addition, the construction phase of the project has significantly exceeded the commitment for 27 jobs for local indigenous community members, with the safe execution of these works under the supervision of McConnell Dowell s site personnel.
