New and Enhanced Features CCD Exchange Parse Inbound and Bi-directional CCD Immunization Data To support customers who use RelayClinical service s clinical reporting features to send data to immunization registries, we enhanced inbound and bi-directional CCD processing to parse every immunization element. When a sending system transmits a CCD with all immunization elements populated, RelayHealth will have the ability to parse out every element and update the patient s RelayClinical Record with the data. This enhancement now allows RelayHealth to send the immunization data received in the CCD to immunization registries on demand. Parse Inbound CCD Preferred Language Data To support our customers who use the RelayClinical service for ARRA Meaningful Use reporting, we enhanced inbound CCD processing to parse out the patient s Preferred Language and add this data to the patient s RelayClinical Record. RelayHealth supports 34 languages and recognizes ISO coding. If the patient has multiple preferred languages specified in the CCD, the service will look for a preference flag equal to true to determine which preferred language to add to the patient s record. This enhancement also supports the ability to parse Patient Declines to Answer if indicated in the CCD. Additional Data in RelayHealth-Generated CCD To advance RelayClinical clinical data integration with external systems, with this release we enhanced the RelayHealth-generated outbound CCD to include additional Immunization data elements, Encounters, and Vital Signs. Immunization Data: RelayHealth-generated CCD now includes the following additional immunization data fields when the patient has one or more immunizations recorded: Administration Route Administered Amount Administered Unit Name Vaccine Lot Number Manufacturer Code Manufacturer Name Medication Series Number Encounters: RelayHealth-generated CCD now includes encounters (both imported and progress notes) for the patient. The CCD will include only those encounters with a status of Approved and will contain the patient s 25 most recent encounters. Vital Signs: RelayHealth-generated CCD now includes the patient s 50 most recent vital signs. Vitals signs data included in the CCD will be populated in metric units. 4

Patient Education Board-certified healthcare professionals from leading health institutions in the United States regularly review and update RelayClinical Patient Education materials to reflect new health information as it becomes available. Since our last release, we ve applied an update to the Patient Education module that not only updates content but also makes topics easier to locate. Previously, the service displayed text topic content in nine separate, specialty Advisor categories (e.g., Behavioral Health, Cardiology, Eye, Sports Medicine, etc.). With this update, we ve consolidated all previously available topics and added new topics into the following Advisor categories: Acute Care Advisor Adult Advisor Medication Advisor Pediatric Advisor Providers, staff, and patients will notice the Advisor category change in the left navigation area. In addition to consolidating topics, this update also introduced improved, relevant, and intuitive keyword searching to make finding individual topics easier than ever. The service reflects the consolidated Advisor categories in the Settings and Administration area of the service as well. Users who have Practice Administrator privileges in the RelayClinical service can now search for topics under the Education Standard Content Text Files area by using any of the four new Advisor categories. Did you know? RelayClinical Patient Education is meaningful use certified in both standalone and RelayClinical Platform deployments. Drummond Group certified Patient Education under the following requirement: (m) Patient-specific education resources. Enable a user to electronically identify and provide patient-specific education resources according to, at a minimum, the data elements included in the patient s: problem list; medication list; and laboratory test results as well as provide such resources to the patient. For more information about using RelayClinical Patient Education to meet your organization s meaningful use goals, contact your Deployment Specialist or contact RelayHealth Customer Support at RELAY-ME ( ). 5

Service Performance Enhancements In our ongoing effort to optimize system performance, RelayHealth continuously monitors the service and prioritizes enhancements related to service efficiency. Recently, we addressed issues in the following areas: Patient Demographic Match This enhancement improves inbound HL7 message processing time and addresses service impact related to demographic matching. Home Page At-a-Glance Message Count This enhancement speeds page load time for users who have a large amount of result and renewal data and resolves issues with slow login response time. Patient List This enhancement improves response time in patient search workflows and resolves timeout issues that caused users to experience failed patient searches. RelayClinical Record Summary Page This enhancement speeds page load time for users accessing a patient s health record Summary page. 6

Service Corrections In this release, we made the following service corrections in response to customer- and staff-reported issues: We corrected an issue in which a customer received duplicate renewal requests for patients who had multiple Medical Record Numbers (MRN) associated with their accounts. This issue affected patient records that had previously undergone record merge workflows. With this correction, the service will recognize the most recent MRN and will appropriately display a single renewal request as designed. We corrected a webvisit issue that caused the service to produce errors due to an inappropriately truncated date field. We have corrected webvisit date field validation and webvisit messages now transmit as expected. We corrected an issue in RelayClinical Documentation in which one customer reported that a medication name was omitted from the printed version of a Progress Note. We corrected an interoperability issue that caused encounter numbers not to populate as expected in Outbound HL7 RDE (prescription) messages. This issue affected customers configured for Single Sign In and has been corrected to populate encounter data in the outbound RDE as designed. We corrected an issue in which a provider reported receiving a patient-generated renewal request that did not display the requested medication s name. This error was due to a database issue and has been corrected to display the medication name as designed. We corrected an escript issue in which a user reported receiving an error prior to the configured timeout for the user s account. This error was associated with a database caching issue, which we have repaired. We corrected an interoperability issue in which a customer s inbound CSV message processing did not operate properly due to inclusion of double quote characters in the middle name field. We have corrected validation in the messaging service to fail messages that include the quote characters. This correction will allow standard message failure procedures to be followed to correct and resend the messages. We corrected a cosmetic issue in Results Manager that prevented the degree character ( ) from displaying appropriately in Results Manager print workflows. We corrected a results issue in which the service did not recognize \.in0\ as an escape character set in HL7 messages. With this correction, the character set, which means No indent start displaying at the first character position on the line, is now supported. We corrected an issue that caused printed progress notes to omit some information. This issue was related to progress notes that included data imported from a previous progress note. We ve corrected this issue such that progress notes that include imported data will print all appropriate data from the note regardless of whether the data was imported or newly entered. We corrected an inbound CCD issue that caused the service to recognize null values as high effective dates in problem and medications sections of the inbound CCD. This issue caused the problem and/or medication entries to incorrectly label these entries as inactive. Going forward, the service will ignore high null values as expected. We addressed a minor cosmetic issue in the Create Progress Note tooltip (hover-over text) to correct a typo. 7

Development Update We ve begun the development process for the features and service enhancements listed below. Look for detailed communications related to these items in the near future. Billable ICD9 Search Results This feature is intended to support RelayClinical Orders and RelayClinical Documentation users. When completed, the ICD9 diagnosis selector will display only billable codes in the Create an Order and Progress Notes > Billing tab workflows. All other workflows will continue to display all ICD9 values. ICD9 Synonyms This feature will add synonyms for ICD9 diagnoses codes into the RelayClinical service. This enhancement is intended to improve search results returned by allowing users to search on providerfriendly terminology. When this feature is completed users will, for example, be able to search for a term such as COPD. In response, the service will appropriately return the following code: Obstructive chronic bronchitis with (acute) exacerbation. Build Patient List Asynchronous Report Processing This feature will introduce a new process for building patient lists that will allow the report to generate in the background while staff and providers manage other tasks within the service. When completed, this feature will also introduce a new screen to the Build Patient List workflow where users can retrieve historical reports. 8
