1 Product Description Application Surface Preparation Application Equipment Surface Temperature / Temperature Quality Max. Relative Humidity Film Thickness PlastiRoute RollGrip is a liquid, rollable, solvent-free road marking material that cures via peroxide initiator. We recommend it as permanent area-coating with strong anti-slip properties and high durability. It has been developed for hand application with paint rollers, on asphalt as well as on concrete via primer. PlastiRoute RollGrip is very thixotropic, which means that it does not level or flow after rolling. Using a long-hair paint-roller PlastiRoute RollGrip is automatically deposited in the shape of small heaps of 2-3 mm size, thereby creating a strong texture. This strong texture gives superior skid resistance under wet/rainy conditions, when friction is needed the most. PREMARK or DecoMark symbols can be applied on top of PlastiRoute RollGrip, too. Before application, the surface needs to be dry, clean and free of dust, salt, grease or oil. The surface must be adhesive; old coatings must be checked. Asphalt New bituminous surfaces should be weathered at least 8 weeks before final application. Concrete Concrete surfaces have to be prepared with PlastiRoute THAN Primer ( 0.1 kg/m²) Polished surfaces When coating on smooth surfaces (polished stone, granite, basalt, tile, glazed tiles, etc.) and surface-treated concrete may cause reduced adhesion. In these substrates, we recommend that you perform sample markers and checked for proper adhesion. Solvent resistant paint roller. Please choose a roller with long-hair flooring if more pronounced textures are intended. Tape, Drilling machine, Paint stirrer (spiral). PlastiRoute RollGrip is offered in special qualities for very hot as well as very cold temperatures with lower, respectively higher reactivity: 5 15 C choose W Quality C standard Quality C choose S Quality 85 % H rel 2 5 mm Initiator / Mixing Ratio Powder Peroxide : Perkadox CH-50X wt.-% Perkadox CH-34X wt.-% PlastiRoute RollPlast Drum Size Peroxide Initiator Bags Perkadox CH-50X Amount Peroxide wt.-% Peroxide Initiator Bags Perkadox CH-34X Amount Peroxide wt.-% 8 kg 1 x 100 g 1,3 1 x 100 g kg 1 x 200 g or 2 x 100 g 28 kg 1 x 200 g and 1 x 100 g or 2 x 200 g 38,8 kg 2 x 200 g and 1 x 100 g or 3 x 200g 1,3 1,3 1,1 1,4 1,3 1,5 3 x 100 g x 100 g x 100 g 1.8 Our PlastiRoute Rollplast products are shipped together with pre-packaged 100 g and 200 g of peroxide bags. Please note: More peroxide than recommended reduces the curing time but simultaneously leads to a softer product. Less peroxide than recommended may lead to curing failures. Page 1/

2 Application Pot-Life Pot-life at 22 C 10 minutes higher temperature reduces pot-life. The chemical reaction starts irreversible as soon as peroxide gets in contact with PlastiRoute RollPlast. After addition of peroxide the applicator has a time frame to apply the material on the surface. After this period of time the viscosity of PlastiRoute RollPlast increases abruptly. This point in time is called Pot-Life and marks the maximum time till application has to be conducted. Curing-Time / Pass-Over-Time Curing-Time at 22 C 25 minutes higher temperature reduces Curing-Time. Drop On Beads Consumption Drop On Beads may be sprinkled during Pot-Life onto the coating to produce a retroreflective marking area. The coating of the beads is essential for bead-adherence. Our certified recommendation for white PlastiRoute RollPlast is: Ucme AGC 6 ( kg/m 2 ) Our Recommendation for yellow PlastiRoute RollPlast is: Swarco Solidplus 100 ( kg/m 2 ) Consumption depends on porosity of surface-structure as well as applied texture-strength. Minimum consumption is 1 l/m² 1.7 kg/m², typical consumption 2.2 kg/m². Consumption per m² (Density = 1,7 kg/l) Area Layer thickness [mm] Consumption per m² 1 m² 2,0 2,0 l = 3,4 kg 1 m² 3,0 3,0 l = 5,1 kg Depending on color may occur a discrepancy from these average values in the range of 5%. Please use the density of the safety data sheet to calculate exact consumption. Viscosity / Liquefier PlastiRoute RollGrip is ready for processing when delivered. Only for very low temperatures, reactive liquefier may be needed to optimize flow-ability. For this purpose only use our acrylate-based thinner which will constitute a beneficial part in the final coating when cured: PlastiRoute Reactive Liquefier Page 2/

3 Application Application Process Cleaning Of Equipment Application General Technical Characteristics Colour Tones Broad tape should be used to set the borders of the application area. The material must be stirred until homogeneous. Then 1.2 % wt powder-peroxide initiator are added directly into the bucket and stirred intensively for about 1 minute. As soon as peroxide initiator is added, the curing process starts immediately. Pot-life at room temperature 10 minutes higher temperature reduces Pot-Life. Pour larger quantities of initiated PlastiRoute RollGrip onto the surface and distribute it with rollers. Please choose a roller with long-hair flooring if more pronounced textures are intended. A more pronounced texture further increases anti slip properties at wet conditions. After distribution of the material, finish the application by rolling once more over it, now only in one direction thereby you create a uniform texture. Important: Take off the bordering tape as soon as possible before the product has cured! Whenever application is stopped, the equipment has to be cleaned from the reacting paint immediately. Use PlastiRoute Cleaner Free from toxic heavy metals or their compositions. Free from aromatic hydrocarbons. Additional information regarding current legal regulations and information regarding workers health and safety are listed in the Material Safety Data Sheet. Also instructions about transport, handling and storage, disposal and advices regarding first aid, toxicology and ecology are given. The Material Safety Data Sheet has to be read and understood before commencing work. The material may not be used for any purpose other than the intended purpose without the consent of the manufacturer. Please contact GEVEKO PLASTIROUTE GmbH, Müllheim, for applying on special surfaces or for custom application techniques (contact-address on last page). PlastiRoute RollGrip is available in almost any colour tone. Skid Resistance If no drop on material is used on top of PlastiRoute RollGrip (which is recommended), friction of the marking is determined by application method, road surface-texture, wear and primarily the marking material itself. PlastiRoute RollGrip -products are developed for road-marking applications with highly increased grip for traffic security. They incorporate quartz particles of more than 50 % weight and particle-sizes up to 1.8 mm. Skid resistance is very high because of its up to 4 mm high texture. However the extreme texture makes the established SRT measurements problematic as the pendulum cannot handle such an uneven surface. (This is why agglomerates cannot be measured with an SRT-pendulum neither). Anyhow if PlastiRoute RollGrip is applied flat by a roll with long-hair flooring it can be measured using an SRT-Pendulum and values > 65 SRT are measured. However friction of the still non smooth surfaces is not measured adequately using the SRT pendulum in general: the bigger the particles/texture the lower the measured SRT. Page 3/

5 PlastiRoute RollGrip on top of PREMARK and DecoMark Due to the high binder content of PlastiRoute RollGrip, PREMARK as well as DecoMark symbols adheres well on this coating. After application of PlastiRoute RollGrip, PREMARK road marking symbols or DecoMark decorative sheets can be applied on top using gas burners. No interface primer is needed. Whereas asphalt- or concrete-surfaces need preheating for PREMARK or DecoMark application, PlastiRoute RollGrip doesn t need to be heated. The heat tolerance of PlastiRoute RollGrip depends on color-tone, but generally is sufficient for PREMARK or DecoMark applications. Discoloration of PlastiRoute RollGrip occurs if burner temperature is too hot. Lower temperatures in combination with longer heating periods reduce the risk to burn the RollGrip.
