1 Team Classification Water System & Solutions Western Water Enterprise Agreement Band 7 Position Objective Drive safety, efficiency, compliance, quality and reliability through coordination of water treatment plant teams, including related operational processes/procedures and management & maintenance of assets. Develop and implement operational plans (supported by procedures and systems) to cover all treatment plants such that there is effective management of risks to assets, processes, people, customers and the environmental in a cost & resource effective manner. To provide high quality internal/external customer service in all matters related to the manufacture of high quality drinking water, including complaint/enquiry response, investigation, resolution and reporting. To undertake a wide variety of technical assessments and tasks related to manufacturing high quality water to customers, including: monitoring, reporting, data capture and analysis, treatment plant inspections, planning and problem solving. To ensure accurate and timely input into business reporting requirement (Balanced Score Card). Reporting all water manufacture or quality issues, and corrective actions taken. At all times conduct the role in a way that is consistent with Western Water s values; both enhances and protects the quality and safety of drinking water; and, ensure compliance with regulatory and certification requirements. Key Responsibilities Undertake related tasks to support the role of the Manager Water Systems, including project management and administrative tasks as required. Work areas may include all aspects of the Water Systems and Solutions portfolio. Establish and maintain consistent approaches across Water Teams for providing a safe workplace for staff, contractors, visitors and the public, applying risk assessment methods to identify and manage risks based upon the treatment hierarchy. Support a culture of innovative efficiency, where Teams learn from each other and practice continual improvement in terms of process operation, asset management and procurement Develop and maintain Strategic Operational Plans to cover WSSG assets such that the multiple objectives are understood, with relevant Team and site based Key Performance Indicators developed to support delivery of the plans Ref: HR-FORM-C00RDINATOR WATER TREATMENT Page 1 of 5 Uncontrolled when Printed

2 Monitor financial performance across Teams, with early investigation and (if applicable) action to drive efficiency and value. Coordinate efficient and consistent application of WW s OH&S, Environmental, Risk and Quality systems and requirements across Teams (and related contractors), including related auditing, inspections and reporting requirements. Support a culture of customer-focused product and service delivery, with opportunities to efficiently add value to the customer experience. Key Relationships Accountability and Extent of Authority Reports to: Manager, Water Systems Supervises: Team Leaders & Team Members Contractors Internal Manager, Water Systems Team Leaders Water quality Advisor Process Engineer Senior Environmental Engineer Treatment Plants Teams All Western Water Staff External Customers and Community Department of Human Services representatives HACCP and IMS Auditors Coordinate operation of all 7 water treatment plants, Melbourne Water pump station and major storage tanks. Coordinate the operational activities of the treatment teams (2 teams, with 8 staff plus contractors), to ensure safe, efficient and compliant business and customer outcomes. Oversee all related expenditure of treatment teams, including tracking of performance against budgets for both operational expenditure and minor capital expenditure. Work within a broad framework of technical and management activities taking on a multidisciplinary role within Water Systems & Solutions Group, including Acting duties for MWSS when applicable. Coordinate the implementation of emergency and planned maintenance duties using internal and external (contractor) resources as necessary, taking responsibility for OH&S, Environmental, Risk, Quality or Customer Service impacts. 3 Judgement and Decision Making relevant systems coordinator. Make decisions on operational, emergency, strategic and staffing matters across the two treatment teams based upon sound judgment. Judgments to be supported by appropriate analysis of available data, with alignment of decisions and actions to our corporate values. Resolve problems in situations within delegations of authority via identification and analysis of potential options, with consideration of broader implications of actions to other stakeholders, regulatory requirements, organizational objectives and organizational values. Specialist Knowledge and Skills Proficiency in the application of relevant legislation, regulations, Customer Charter and industry codes of practice to water storage, treatment, distribution and customer supply. This includes EPA license requirements and Department of Human Health Services requirements. Proficiency in the application of operational process knowledge, business knowledge and leadership skills to WSSG related problems and opportunities, thereby identifying innovative solutions that balance risk and value for both immediate needs and the long term. High level report writing skills sufficient to provide Board level presentation and reports. Sound knowledge of budgeting and KPI reporting suitable for organizational wide and WSSG scale Balanced Score Card reporting. Understanding of the principals of the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines. Knowledge of implementing the underlying principles of HACCP, catchment management, water treatment, supply management and water quality analyses, Skills in the management of large amounts of information and data using various record keeping systems including the MS Office suite of computer software as well as SCADA, CARE, DATAWORKS and Aquantify. Interpersonal Skills Highly developed interpersonal skills, facilitating effective negotiation with Treatment Teams, internal staff and external staff (including Regulators) and establish agreed outcomes that best meet organizational and WSSG objectives. Ability to communicate with customers, staff and contractors via written, oral and visual means, with appreciation of the need to

4 consider different delivery styles for different audiences. Ability to prepare routine correspondence, operational reports and incident reports as required Management Skills Application of high level management skills to deliver coordinated and consistent operations and maintenance across all 7 treatment plants (and related assets) and deliver efficient activities of all treatment teams (2 teams, with 8 staff plus contractors). Working with Team Leaders, Team Members and other, achieve organizational and WSSG objectives and goals. Coordinate Treatment Teams, including performance reviews of Team Leaders against delivery of Western Water s values, KPIs and other operational and strategic objectives. Qualifications and Experience Performance Criteria Additional Degree or Diploma level (or equivalent) in Business or Management. Leadership or equivalent role in an operational process environment, with 2-5 years experience in a leadership role. Certificate III in Water Treatment (or ability to obtain this certification with relevant experience and training). Engineering / Science / Trade (e.g. mechanical, electrical) qualifications. Current drivers licence As agreed in Personal Performance Plan to be agreed consistent with Western Water s Customer Charter, Balanced Scorecard and Statement of Obligations under the proposed Regulatory Framework and Essential Services Commission obligations. Ensure that your work meets all OH&S, Environmental and Quality requirements and is aligned with the Western Water Values. In doing so you will give due attention to minimising risk to the health and safety of others in the workplace and the general public.
