There are over 1.2 million stroke survivors in the UK. Almost two-thirds have a disability and one-third rely on others for help, making stroke one of the biggest causes of disability. We are continually working to improve the lives of stroke survivors and their families who deserve the very best treatment and care. We deliver amazing, life-changing support to over 60,000 stroke survivors and their families each year. We also fund research to find better treatments, campaign for better stroke care and help people understand how to spot and prevent stroke. This work is made possible by more than 4,000 talented volunteers and staff, our fantastic supporters and our strong relationships with the stroke clinical and research community. 2 Directorate The Marketing and External Affairs directorate plays a vital role in delivering our strategy. We provide strategic leadership for engagement and stewardship of key audiences through an integrated, results orientated approach. Working alongside Income Generation, Strategy and Research, and Stroke Support directorates, we deliver leadership and expertise in marketing, brand, public affairs, PR, event management, communication, creative services and digital to deliver the charity s vision. Join us and help to achieve a world free of stroke. Purpose of role Every Stroke Association role is designed to contribute towards achieving our strategic ambitions. The particular focus of this role is to help us to achieve Ambition 3: Expanding the network of services and long-term support across the UK. The Digital Content Manager will identify new content and oversee the production of all media and resources for My Stroke Guide, our self-management website designed by stroke survivors for stroke survivors. Key responsibilities of role Responsibility areas Performance indicators Key competencies To shape and drive forward the content strategy for My Stroke Guide To identify and help produce new content (including copy and various types of media) from drawing board through testing to publication on the site that will assist stroke survivors in the management of their recovery Comprehensive website content strategy that includes the planning, creation, delivery and governance of content Testing and evaluating content Examples of insight gathered Examples of content improvements scoped and implemented Copy written and developed to a high standard and in line with policies High-quality informative videos and other media produced Site maintained and content accurate and up-to-date Delivered on time, in budget and in line with our internal guidelines and

3 To work with site members to identify opportunities for user-generated content and to understand their needs in order to feed these back into the development of the site in a positive feedback loop To identify new technical features and ideas to develop and make the site more engaging; including the creation of user stories for the development team which will enable these features to be built To develop and maintain relationships with colleagues in the Strategy & Research, Stroke Support and Marketing & External Affairs directorates as well as in the devolved nations in order to create protocols for gathering insight into the information needs of stroke survivors Information Standard policies Examples of user content ideas Relevant content developed User-generated ideas added into insight and research work Scoping of ideas into functional specifications for developers Clear user stories that can be raised as tickets for developers Usability testing and evaluation Actions of meetings and examples of involvement Examples of insight and implementation To contribute to the review of information materials and production processes to ensure they are fit for purpose, working closely with Strategy & Research, and Marketing & External Affairs teams To communicate requirements, oversee technical developments, test changes and updates, and ensure that these are communicated to service users, funders and commissioners Examples of collaboration and outcomes Editorial policies followed Evidence of timely feedback and smooth processes and updates

4 To prioritise technical and system issues either flagged by users or discovered in the system, ensuring quick troubleshooting and swift, effective solutions To line-manage and develop the My Stroke Guide Enquiry Line Officer and support Enquiry Line activities when required All issues managed in a timely manner Staff induction, supervision and development plans Enquiries managed

6 Person specification Education Educated to degree level or have relevant demonstrable industry experience. Willingness to undertake training and continuing professional development. Experience Demonstrable experience of sourcing, critically appraising and writing copy in different styles for a variety of audiences Experience working with web developers Experience of engaging with users to deliver fit-for-purpose information materials Experience managing multiple projects at the same time and delivering to tight deadlines Experience and strong skills in use of technology and IT systems Experience translating user needs into technical solutions, including writing user stories/functional specifications Experience producing accessible information for people with disabilities Experience in meeting internal and external quality standards, such as the Department of Health Information Standard Experience defining and delivering a website content strategy Experience successfully managing a diverse team to deliver projects on schedule Experience working in the voluntary sector Skills and abilities The ability to write, edit and proofread to a very high standard with meticulous attention to detail Able to communicate complex matters of a technological nature clearly and concisely using appropriate methods to a wide spectrum of people, including staff and users Ability to work and communicate well with internal and external teams at all levels to seek the best for stroke survivors /
