2 Job description Job Purpose: The post holder will be responsible for reconciling the University s and subsidiaries income bank accounts, analysing and accurately processing all transactions within a restricted timescale, which is fundamental to cash flow, VAT returns, debt management and the production of the University s annual published accounts. The role provides a prompt, effective, and efficient response to queries from all the stakeholders, including students, conference delegates and other stakeholders of the professional service provided by the cash management function. Previous experience in; financial accounts, cash management or treasury, good problem solving, analytical skills, attention to detail and nominal ledger system. Strong ICT and system skills are essential. A continuous innovative and cultural improvement approach is essential, underpinned by excellent service provision. Main Duties/Responsibilities: Manage front facing service, dealing with students and external customers as well as internal staff. Ensure that all income received on the University s bank accounts, via online payment portals, and other interactive payment methods are identified and loaded into the Finance ERP system which is time critical. The management and further development of the online store, and other e-commerce and e-wallet portals, including setting up payment pathways on a timely basis for users. Daily reconciliation of all payment portals against the University finance system, as part of good accounting practice. Need to be innovative, always seeking to identify secure and efficient payment processes for students and the wider university, as expected from a forward looking organisation. Timely reconciliation of all bank statements. Full management of the suspense account, when all possible routes used to identify the payment have been exhausted, in accordance with the procedures. Responsible for reconciliation of the suspense account, along with resolution of queries and reallocation of funds as appropriate, on a timely basis. Managing the timely processing of tuition and other customer refunds where necessary. To act as a point of contact for the University Departments regarding funds received directly into the University s income account, giving advice on direct payments when required. Responsible for banking administration, management including liaising with the various banks, and ensuring bank mandates and governance are in place. Ad hoc duties as required, including occasional cover for treasury analysis, uploading SLC remittance data and assisting with placing and monitoring investments.

4 Person specification Education and qualifications Essential Educated to A level standard and studying a finance or treasury professional qualification Method of assessment Application form Experience Experience in nominal ledger, balance sheet, banking, customer service, financial accounts and book-keeping. Proven experience of balance sheet reconciliation, analysis and investigation. Experience of delivering outputs on a regular basis, under tight deadlines. An excellent communicator who is able to establish rapport with a wide range of stakeholders. Must be confident and robust yet diplomatic. Professional and credible. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite e.g. Excel, Word, Outlook and data interrogation Demonstrable can do approach to work. Must be able to manage own work and others to meet pressured deadlines. Have implemented or led on operational and process changes, including production of KPI s, cash reporting and services.
