2 UOW ENTERPRISES Strategic Plan Established in 1993, UOW Enterprises (UOWE) has grown to become one of the most successful Australian owned, global providers of tertiary education programs including Vocational, Diploma, Associate Degree, Degree, Masters and PhD's. From this significant foundation, the Strategic Plan sets UOWE s path for sustainable growth with exceptional student experience and quality programs at its core. The plan asserts UOWE s vision to be a leading global education provider delivering transformative student experiences, and its mission to enhance UOW s global reputation. Our strategic priorities leverage on our strengths and define where we will put our focus and efforts. They include: Offering a global student experience Developing new and innovative quality programs that deliver value to our students Extending our global presence in support of UOW s international strategy Fostering an innovative and high performance culture Strengthening our connections with our local communities This plan will guide UOWE for the next four years and we look forward to working with all our stakeholders and communities to achieve our goals and realise this vision. Marisa Mastroianni Group Chief Executive Officer About Us UOWE is a wholly owned subsidiary of UOW, is governed by an independent board and owns and operates the University of Wollongong in Dubai, UOW College and Community College of City University. Employing more than 1,100 staff globally, UOWE s various colleges and universities spread across Wollongong, Sydney, Dubai and Hong Kong. UOWE provides higher education, vocational, English and professional development programs to 11,000 students undertaking one of over 75 courses or programs. The University of Wollongong in Dubai is arguably Australia s most successful offshore higher education facility. First established in 1993 there are over 4,000 students from over a 110 nationalities and more than 30 accredited undergraduate, masters and PhD courses on offer. Since 1988, more than 27,000 students from 50 different countries have graduated from UOW College. The College provides a supportive learning environment where students build skills and knowledge through the delivery of quality academic pathway programs, English teaching and testing, and vocational courses. As part of the University of Wollongong s commitment to extending its student experience worldwide, it successfully completed the acquisition of the Community College of City University (CCCU) in July In operation for more than 10 years, CCCU is recognised as a premier college in Hong Kong providing quality tertiary education for over 6,000 students. CCCU is highly regarded for its rigor in quality assurance and its emphasis on holistic education. 1

Seek out and assess opportunities that will transform the business and facilitate growth through any number of means including alliances, partnerships and utilisation of technology. OBJECTIVES OBJECTIVES OBJECTIVES UOWE will have a system of continuous evaluation of value creation across the portfolio of programs using both student and market feedback to build and manage a pipeline of new programs. Capitalise on transformative opportunities across each region and within each education sector in which we operate utilising intelligence gained from internal and external sources. Offer global programs that include multi-destination components to provide a truly international education experience UOWE will have a framework in place to track, assess and support the implementation of innovative ideas (including internal proposals) that may benefit the overall business. (Innovation Practice) UOWE will support and assist the strategic plan of the University of Wollongong, in particular its international strategy. UOWE will support offering of internationally focused internship programs and study tour experiences that enable access to different opportunities in different locations. 3

5 Actively engage with government & stakeholders in the regions we operate Be unsurpassed in the provision of regulatory, corporate and governance services Be the employer of choice in each location Develop and maintain key relationships across each region to aid in continuing to raise each business s profile and establish a network of advocacy. Utilsing the centralised model of corporate, governance and regulatory support to benefit the businesses and establish a practice of continuous improvement at the centre. Foster a culture that rewards initiative, creativity and performance where staff are valued, empowered and respected and each business is considered an employer of choice. UOWE will operate a high quality regulatory, corporate and governance advisory and service group that support the strategic goals of our business units. UOWE will effectively benchmark employment arrangements against internationally relevant organisations to identify best practice and have in place a means of promoting employee successes and contributions UOWE will form deeper and targeted relationships with government and stakeholders in key risk areas to ensure sustainable operations across our regional locations. UOWE will have in place effective systems, processes to ensure our global operations remain compliant, financially robust and that effective management of risk facilitates a focus on continuous improvement. UOWE will be able to provide opportunities to cross-skill employees, help employees develop in new areas including enabling global employment opportunities and create a community that is inclusive, encouraging and supportive. 4

The outcomes identified below can be used to capture the information and determine if the measures have been achieved. Regular progress reporting on these measures can assist decision makers if priorities need to be adapted during the life of the plan. 7 STRATEGIC PLANNING FRAMEWORK This document is a four-year plan outlining the vision, mission, strategic goals, objectives and key measures of success for the Group. It will form part of the suite of planning and reporting activities and framework for achieving the strategic goals over the next three years. It is critical that the core goals and objectives of this plan support its business units and builds on its current success. The Strategic Planning Framework diagram below outlines how this will be achieved. The aim of the framework is to aid in providing an overarching direction for the Group, the businesses within the Group and each level within the Group. 6
