1 CSI Student Infrmatin and FAQ Guide 2013 Welcme t CSI! As a student f ne f CSI s academic partners, yu can benefit frm discunted pricing at CSI. Please read thrugh this dcument carefully, it cntains imprtant infrmatin t help yu register fr yur CSI curse and benefit frm any applicable discunts. Students receiving instructin n a CSI curse at a Pst Secndary Institutin must be registered in that curse thrugh CSI. Please cmplete yur registratin with CSI as detailed belw. Curse registratin includes all curse materials and the first attempt f the CSI exam. Hw t register T register and benefit frm any discunt yu must register n When ready, click n the fllwing link t register (it is lcated at the bttm f the page fllwing the registratin guidelines): Please fllw these guidelines carefully: 1. Select yur cllege frm the drp dwn menu prvided. 2. Select yur curses by adding each t yur shpping cart. Yu will then see yur shpping cart : T add mre items, fr example, the CSC Check Prduct, click n Add mre items. The CSC Check is prvided at 100% discunt, hwever it must be added t the shpping cart in the same manner as a regular purchase. All discunts are calculated at the end f the registratin prcess. 3. Check ut nce yu have added all the prducts t yur cart, and create a CSI Student prfile if yu d nt already have ne. Imprtant: t btain the discunt, yu must accept the Infrmatin Release Cnsent Frm (IRCF) that the system will guide yu t 1

2 cmplete during the registratin prcess. This will allw us t share yur infrmatin with yur cllege. In the field titled Manager s name : enter the name f yur instructr r, if yu d nt knw yur instructr s name, please indicate instructr unknwn. In the field titled Emplyee number : Enter yur student number at the cllege. This may be used fr verificatin purpses. Here is an example f the emplyment and academic affiliatin screen: Click I accept and cntinue. Yu will have a chance t review yur purchase Cnfirm yur registratin as guided. All applicable discunts will be applied n the last screen shwn abve. If yu d nt see yur discunt, ensure that yu have accepted the IRCF. If yu still d nt see yur discunt, yur cllege des nt supprt this curse and yur registratin will be prcessed at the full retail price. Yu have ne year t cmplete yur CSI curse. Discunts Students frm qualifying clleges receive a 10% discunt n select CSI curses. Check prducts available fr select curses, at n charge!!! Dn t frget t add them t yur cart. 2

3 Curse extensin If yu cannt write the CSI curse exam befre yur curse expires, an extensin is available fr a fee. All fees are listed n the CSI website under plicies. Imprtant exam infrmatin Students have ne year frm the time f registratin t write the CSI exam(s) they are enrlled in. Mst academic partners require students t write their CSI exams prir t the end f a semester in rder fr them t receive credit fr the cllege/university credit they are enrlled in. Students shuld verify hw exams are handled fr their class with their schl instructr. All CSI Curses have a passing grade f 60%, unless therwise indicated in the curse infrmatin. A student can attempt their curse exam a ttal f three times. The first attempt is included in the curse fee. Exams results can take up t 15 calendar days. Exam results are psted nline. If students sign the ICRF (Infrmatin Cnsent Release Frm), their grades can be cmmunicated t their instructr upn request. Students can their transcript t their instructr using the feature available in their CSI Student prfile. Fees and Plicies All regular CSI plices apply Review ur plicies nline here: Curse Fees: Substitutins are nt allwed. If yu decide t pt ut f yur curse, yu must submit a curse cancellatin frm within 14 days f yur enrlment. Yu will receive a refund fr the cst f yur curse enrlment, less a cancellatin fee. See the frms sectin f the CSI website. Exam Fees: : A cancellatin fee will be charged if yu cancel yur exam 14 days r less prir t yur scheduled exam date. 3

4 Secnd and third attempts at an exam are chargeable items. N substitutins are allwed. The CSI website cntains the mst up t date pricing and plicy infrmatin. 5 Frequently Asked Questins (FAQ) Tp Ten FAQ s frm students taking a CSI curse thrugh a Pst Secndary Institutin Questin 1: I m trying t register fr a CSI curse. My instructr tld me I culd call in r enrl nline. Hw d I d this and what is the best methd? Students can enrl in a CSI curse nline r ver the phne. Online enrlments are the mst effective because students will receive nline access t the curse immediately. Students can enrl nline at: Students wh wish t enrl ver the phne can call the CSI Custmer Service Line at: r Questin 2: Hw d I get the discunt frm my cllege/university when enrlling nline? All f CSI s academic partners are eligible fr a 10% discunt n curses fr which the partner has an agreement. Students f academic partners will receive a 10% discunt when they enrl nline at r by phne. Please nte that when enrlling nline the 10% discunt will nt appear until the final page f the checkut prcess. Questin 3: What is the Check prduct? I was tld that because I m a student, I get the Check prduct free. Hw d I d that? The Check Prduct is a series f practice questins that supprt the textbk when preparing fr an exam. Students taking a curse thrugh a pst secndary institutin are eligible t receive the crrespnding Check prduct fr free if ne is available. T receive this prduct fr free, yu must visit chse yur schl and add the Check prduct t yur shpping cart. At the final stage f the checkut prcess, the Check prduct shuld cme up as $0. 5

6 Questin 4: I tried t enrl nline thrugh the link that my instructr gave me but the discunts are nt applying. What am I ding wrng? Please ensure that yu are registering n Schl discunts will nt appear until the FINAL page f the checkut prcess. Als please be certain t select yur cllege frm the drpdwn menu and accept the Infrmatin Release Cnsent frm. Enter the name f yur instructr in the field marked manager r, if yu d nt yet knw yur instructr s name, indicate instructr unknwn. If the discunt still des nt appear, yur cllege might nt qualify fr a discunt. Cntact yur instructr t validate. Questin 5: I am attending a Cllege/University and was tld by my instructr that I was suppsed t call CSI t buy the bks fr the Curse. Students receive their CSI textbks thrugh CSI, hwever there is a cmmn miscnceptin bks can be purchased withut being registered in the curse. In rder t receive textbks and be eligible t write a CSI exam, a student must be registered in the CSI curse. Questin 6: I was tld I culd pick up my bks at CSI. Is that crrect? N. CSI des nt have bks n site. If a student enrls in a textbk ptin f a curse, thse bks are shipped t students directly. Bks can take up t tw weeks t arrive but typically arrive within a week r less. Questin 7: D I take the exams with CSI at the schl which I attend? Many f CSI s academic partners administer their wn exams and quizzes in additin t CSI s exam(s). CSI nly recgnizes marks frm students wh have written the CSI exam. 6

7 Instructrs and instructrs shuld be very clear at the beginning f the schl year n what quizzes and exams are being administered by the schl (if any) and when CSI exams are scheduled. Questin 8: My rmmate/friend is interested in taking the CSI curse that I m enrlled in, but he/she is nt part f the class at the cllege/university. Can he/she still get the discunt? N. The nly students that are eligible fr CSI pst secndary discunts are nes that are enrlled in the cllege/university class that is teaching the CSI curse(s). Questin 9: D I have t cmplete r pass my schl s quizzes r tests befre I can write the CSI exam? N. Anyne enrlled in a CSI curse is eligible t write the CSI exam(s) fr that curse within ne year f their registratin. 7
