2 A New Year s Eve Celebration A spectacular New Year s Eve celebration in downtown Columbus with fireworks, live entertainment, activities and fun for all ages! First Night was brought to Columbus in It is part of an international alliance of more than 100 cities that showcase the visual and performing arts through New Year s Eve celebrations that are safe, affordable and fun, while being substance-free. On December 31st, First Night Columbus actively engages the community with entertainment, transforming the city into a stage where each individual is free to choose what to see and do. 3 First Night Background: Our mission: Provide a platform for our community s spirit, arts, education and rich culture to create an exciting substance-free New Years celebration in Downtown Columbus. Our Focus: Promote imagination, creativity, education, health and fitness through hands-on activities, entertainment and diverse experiences. First Night Venue/Location: First Night is located in and around downtown s famous COSI building. COSI provides the perfect venue for our countless interactive exhibits as well as their own activities. The layout and programming provided is geared to appease everyone from young children to teens and even their parents! COSI has activities all ages, but focuses more on teens in middle school and high school. FIRST NIGHT COLUMBUS What happens at First Night? Music: Music makes the world go round! Multiple stages featuring regional up-and-comers. Fitness Fun Zone: For those who want to be active! Laser tag, inflatables, snacks, education and more to promote healthy and active lifestyles Creation Station: Bring your creativity! Allows kids of all ages to create one-of-a-kind masterpieces. Food: There is always room for food! A variety of cuisine is available, including several international offerings Little Kidspace : Fun for the little ones! Climb, slide, build, splash, imagine and pretend in COSI s child safe environment COSI activities: These include, but are not limited to: Rollercoaster simulator, High Wire Unicycle, COSI planetarium, and more!
