Background of Beijing-1 Collaboration on Earth Observation of Beijing 1 Project Main sponsor: The Ministry of Science& Technology of People s Republic of China Hosted by Beijing Municipal Science& Technology Commission Responsive EO for Disasters, Environment& Land Resources International Disaster Monitoring Constellation(DMC)

Milestones of Beijing-1 Feb 2002: The company BLMIT was formed Nov2002: Beijing 1Projectwasapproved& supported by MoST of China July 2003: Contract signed with SSTL, UK : Collaborative Development of Beijing 1 design and specification to meet end user requirements 27 Oct 2005 Launch at Plesetsk Cosmodrome, Russia Oct 2005 Feb 2006: In Orbit Commissioning (BLMIT&SSTL) June 2006: Commencement of operational commercial services joins international DMC Oct 2010: 5th anniversary

Collaborative Development Beijing 1: the world s most advanced EO small satellite when launched in 2005 Specifications jointly developed by BLMIT& SSTL in response to user requirements 32 metre GSD multispectral with ultra wide 600km swath 4 metre GSD high resolution panchromatic Data& information distributed inside China (BLMIT)& internationally(dmcii)

Collaborative Development International Cooperation& Independent Manufacture July 2003 June 2005 for the construction of the satellite Satellite Domestical companies Ground station

Collaborative Development International Cooperation& Independent Manufacture Atthesametime ground system had been manufactured Satellite Domestical companies Ground station

Collaborative Development In orbit Performance Promotion Onboard storage expanding: 16GB atthetimeoflaunchto240gb in operation, the storage capacity was increased by 15 times. Data transmission rate increasing: Which was also increased from 20Mbps to 40Mbps. Optional downloading tech: This technique is base on the satellite cloud picture to download the data from Beijing 1 and greatly increased the acquisition rate of cloudless data.
