2 FOREWORD Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is a planning tool generally accepted as an integral component of sound decision-making. EIA is to give the environment its due place in the decision-making process by clearly evaluating the environmental consequences of the proposed activity before action is taken. Early identification and characterization of critical environmental impacts allow the public and the government to form a view about the environmental acceptability of a proposed developmental project and what conditions should apply to mitigate or reduce those risks and impacts. Environmental Impact Notification S.O.1533 (E), dt.14 th September 2006, and amended thereafter, issued under the provisions of Environment (Protection) Act 1986, has made it mandatory to obtain prior environmental clearance for scheduled development projects. The notification has classified projects under two categories 'A' and 'B'. Category A projects (including expansion and modernization of existing projects) require clearance from Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change (MoEFCC), Government of India (GoI) and for category B from State Environmental Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA), constituted by Government of India. As per the above mentioned notification it is mandatory to obtain environmental clearance if construction projects falls under the below extract of the notification. Project or Activity Category with threshold limit A B Conditions if any 8 Building / Construction projects / Area Development projects and Townships The term built up area for the 8 (a) Building and Construction projects > 20,000sq. m and < 1,50,000sq.m of built up area purpose of this notification is the built up or covered area on all floors put together including its basement and other service areas, which are proposed in the 2 P a g e

3 buildings and construction projects. Note 1. The projects or activities shall not include industrial shed, universities, college, hostel for educational institutions, but such buildings shall ensure Sustainable environmental management, solid and liquid and implement environmental conditions given at Appendix-XIV. Note 2.-General Condition shall not apply. Note 3.-The exemptions granted at Note 1 will be available only for industrial shed after integration of environmental norms with building permissions at the level of local authority 8 (b) Townships and Area Development projects 3,00,000sq.m of built up area or Covering an area 150 ha 1,50,000 sq.m and <3,00,000sq.m built up area or covering an area 50 ha and < 150 ha Note- General Condition shall not apply. 4 Brigade Group has entered into a lease cum sale Venture agreement with Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB) for development of land parcel covering an area of 50 Acres (2,02,344Sq.m) located in Varthur Sarjapur Main Road, Near Varthur. The application in Form 1, Terms of Reference and Form 1A elaborates the proposed project and the plan to carry out detailed Environment Impact Assessment (EIA). The Terms of References are proposed by in-house team of Environmental Engineers, Planners, Architects, Hydro-geologist, Ecologist, Traffic Management Experts, etc. The in-house EIA team is headed by Mr. Anand Kumar A, having experience of over 12 years in Environmental Impact Assessment, Sewage Handling & Treatment, Waste Handing & Treatment, Air Pollution Prevention & Control, Sustainable Development, Green Buildings, etc. Mr. Anand Kumar A. has obtained an interim stay order against the MoEF Office Memorandum mandating NABET accredited consultant organizations to carryout Environmental Impact Assessment & Environmental Management Plan from the Honorable High Court of Bangalore. He however, is a NABET accredited EIA co-ordinator (The Organization as a whole could not qualify for accreditation). The team involved in designing Environmental Management Plan is vastly experienced and are experts in their field of expertise. 4 P a g e

6 with Karnataka Industrial Area Development Authority (KIADB) for development of the parcel. The land parcels are earmarked for Residential land-use by KIADB. Brigade Group proposes to develop the land parcel into a Residential Development. The proposed Residential Development will have a total built-up area of 7,08,200Sq.m comprising of 2 Basement + Ground Floor + 22 Upper Floors. The proposed residential development will include 7,000 dwelling units (3850 3BHK, 700 1BHK, BHK), 200 Services Apartment, 200 Rooms youth hostel Convenience stores, small offices, youth hostels, Club House, Sports and Recreational Facilities. On completion of the project, it will improve not only the infrastructure facility but will also improve the aesthetic looks of the surroundings. Table: Salient Features of the Project Sl.
