5 Foreword According to the requirements of Document Jian Biao [2003] No. 102 issued by Ministry of Construction (MOC)-"Notice on Printing the Development and Revision Plan of National Engineering Construction Standards in 2002~2003", this standard is the revision of"code for Construction and Acceptance of Cranes Installation Engineering" GB jointly revised by the Mechanical Industrial Installation Engineering Standard Quota Station of China and the organizations concerned. During revision, the revision group investigated and researched widely; summarized the practical experience on crane installation in the last decade; studied special topics; referred to a great deal of documents and engineering data; solicited the opinions widely from all the organizations and experts concemed; discussed, revised and improved the former code repeatedly and finally examined and approved this version. The main changes of this revision include: To adjust Chapter structures so as to enable the names of post-revised Chapters and Sections as well as the classification of machinery product types to consistent with the series classification criteria of cranes; the names to compatible with provision content and to ensure more rational working procedure engagement and coordination. 2 To add the technical requirements on the track installation of portal bridge crane with electric hoist, flexible hoisting members and the cranes with horizontal guide wheel at only one end. 3 To delete the out-of-date contents on metallurgy cranes. The provisions printed in black bold type are compulsory ones and must be enforced strictly. Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development is in charge of the administration of this code and the explanation of the compulsory provisions; China Machinery Industry Federation is in charge of the routine management; and Mechanical Industrial Installation Engineering Standard Quota Station of China is responsible for the explanation of specific technical contents. All relevant organizations are kindly requested to sum up and accumulate your experiences in actual practices during the process of implementing this code. The relevant opinions and advices, whenever necessary, may be posted or passed on to Mechanical Industrial Installation Engineering Standard Quota Station of China (ADD: 5# Building, 5# South Alley, San Li He Road, Xicheng District Beijing, , China; jxdez@cmiic. com.cn). We will refer to your opinions and advices in the later revision. 8 1 General Provisions This code is formulated with a view to improving the installation engineering construction level of cranes, promoting technical progress, and ensuring engineering quality & safety and to improving economic efficiency This standard is applicable to the construction and acceptance of the installation engineering carried out with electric hoist, overhead crane with simple girder, overhead traveling crane, portal bridge crane and cantilever crane Integral hoisting scheme must be developed for the hoisting with large, special and complex cranes or for the crane hoisting under special and complex circumstance. If building structure is used as the important load-carrying point for hoisting; the load-carrying capability of the structure must be calculated and the scheme must be approved by the former design organization in written form In addition to the requirements stated in this standard, the construction and acceptance of crane installation engineering shall meet the requirements specified in current national relevant standards.

9 2 Basic Requirements Before cranes are installed, they shall be inspected according to the following requirements : 1 Accompanying technical documents shall be full and complete. 2 The equipment, materials and attachments shall be inspected m accordance with equipment packing list; the models, specifications and quantity of such equipment shall meet the requirements of engineering design and accompanying technical documents; in addition, corresponding quality certificates shall be provided. 3 Equipment shall be free from any deformation, damage or rustiness. Herein, steel wire rope shall be free from any rustiness, damage, buckling, looping, kinking, crack or loosening. 4 Ground track foundation of a crane, crane track girder and embedded parts of installation shall meet the requirements of engineering design. design. 5 The safe distance between crane and building shall meet the requirements of engineering When a coupling is assembled on site, the end clearance, radial displacement and axial inclination shall meet the requirements of accompanying technical documents; if no requirements are available, the relevant requirements stated in current national standard "General Code for Construction and Acceptance of Mechanical Equipment Installation Engineering" GB shall be met When flexible hoisting member is installed, the following requirements must be met: 1 When steel wire rope is fixed with press plate, the press plate shall be free from any dislocation or looseness. 2 When steel wire rope is fixed with wedge block, the arc section of steel wire rope close to wedge block shall be wedged firmly and free from any looseness. 3 When steel wire rope gets through guide rope device, it shall not be blocked or hindered; the released steel wire rope shall be free from any swirling or nuzzling up. 4 When a hook locates at lower limit position, steel wire ropes on winding drum shall, besides the rings to fix the rope end, be at least 2 rings. 5 Steel wire ropes for hoisting shall be free from long splicing joint; when the rope is lengthened with other method, the strength of slicing joint shall not be less than 90% of steel wire-rope breaking tensile force. 6 When hoisting chain gets through chain wheel or leading chain frame, the process shall be smooth and free from blocking or crawling. 2

10 2.0.4 Brake device adjustment shall be proper enough so that the opening and closing of brake will be flexible and the braking will be stable and free from any skidding When overhead traveling crane and portal bridge crane are in no load, the maximum clearance between trolley wheel tread and track surface shall not be greater than the smaller value detennined by trolley cardinal distance and trolley span (Figure 2.0.5). Figure Clearance Between the Trolley Wheel of Overhead Traveling Crane (or Portal Bridge Crane) and Track Surface t.h--ciearance between wheel tread and track; K-Track space or wheels distance of a trolley; B--Cardinal distance or axis distance of a trolley Detection of crane span shall meet the requiremenets in Appendix A of this code. 3
