2 1160 North High Street Columbus, Ohio (P) (F) Dear Friend of Stonewall, Stonewall Columbus Holiday 2009 will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2009 and is considered to be the largest Gay celebration of its kind in the Midwest and one of the top 10 in the country. In 2007, Columbus, Ohio received national acclaim in The Advocate as an unexpected yet fabulous destination for. This year marks our 28 th anniversary of Stonewall Columbus Holiday as we rally toward a bigger and better event than the Greater Columbus GLBT and allied community has ever seen. Attendance at the celebration of diversity and community spirit was outstanding last year with an estimated 120,000 participants. Holiday is a crucial fundraising venture for Stonewall Columbus. Funds raised at the events support Stonewall Columbus and its pursuit of equality, fairness and safety for the entire gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) community. The theme of this year is FREEDOM! This year marks the 40 th anniversary of the historic Stonewall riots which sparked our fight for civil rights nationwide. The questions we ask ourselves are What freedoms have we acquired in the last three decades? and What freedoms have we lost in the last three decades? The spirit of our celebration will embrace the issue of our freedoms and we want you to be a part of it. Join us in June 2009 as we host the following events for the community: An Exhibit of Art Show on Saturday June 6, FORE! Golf Tournament on Sunday June 7, Run for 5K on Saturday June 13, Rockin in the Streets at Goodale Park on Friday June 19, Parade from the Statehouse to Goodale Park for the on Saturday June 20, and the Brunch at the Westin Great Southern Hotel on Sunday June 21, featuring A Salute to Judy Garland.
