3 Introduction The Concord Downtown Development Corporation (CDDC) conducts a year-round promotional calendar that includes a combination of retail sales promotions, special events, and opportunities for the community to gather in Historic Downtown Concord. Collectively these activities foster an environment where independent businesses can mature and flourish, while promoting a spirit of innovative entrepreneurship. A strong promotional calendar has been a strong component of the CDDC since While the CDDC is partially funded through tax dollars from its municipal service district (a tax overlay paid by the property owners in Historic Downtown Concord), all promotions, events, and marketing expenses are covered solely through sponsorships from businesses and organizations through the community. The CDDC is a 501(c)6 organization, and as such, sponsorship dollars paid to the CDDC are not tax deductible. Businesses and organizations contribute to the marketing budget for a variety of reasons. With the exposure received from a sponsorship, businesses incorporate this expense directly into their overall marketing budget. Sponsors also find satisfaction in a sense of giving back to the community by supporting events that are free and open to the entire public, as are most of the CDDC s activities. Each sponsor is recognized for their partnership through a variety of methods specific to each event. These methods often include a combination of newspaper advertising, website recognition, weekly newsletter promotion, magazine advertisements, social media networking mediums, podcast promotion, and other innovative marketing techniques. This publication outlines the entire promotional calendar for 2019, specific sponsorship opportunities associated with each event, and benefits of each sponsorship. 2
