(5.2% rely on TV, 2.2% rely on radio) 61.3% of North Dakota adults choose newspapers as their first choice in seeking information on job openings. Newspapers: Are intimate, portable and a permanent medium. Are considered to be a trusted and reliable friend. Were asked to be there. People who read newspapers make an investment by purchasing them. They want it, they buy it, they own it. Are read by people who are dedicated, loyal and astute. they make newspapers a part of their daily routine. Are wanted! In North Dakota s rural communities, it s common to see newspaper readers waiting at post offices and stores to get their newspaper on publication day. Have a long life. Most readers keep their newspaper in the house until the next issue comes out. And many keep them longer for a handy reference. 2

3 In the age of websites, and cable channels, people can get vast amounts of world information at the click of a mouse, but the community newspaper is the only place they can get information about old friends who pass away, a fundraiser for a new fire truck, a victory by the hometown sports team, a fire that destroyed a town landmark, or a local business that is for sale.
