2 official daily newspaper of texas a&m university THE BATTALION, Texas A&M s award-winning, 12-yearold newspaper, is published Monday, Wednesday and Friday during fall and spring semesters, and monthly during summer sessions with distribution at 150 locations classroom and office buildings, residence halls, dining areas, bus stops, many apartments in College Station and other high traffic areas. All advertising must be paid in advance unless a credit application is properly completed by the advertiser and approved by Student Media. Payments may be made with cash, check payable to Student Media, money order, cashier s check, Visa, MasterCard, Discover or American Express. Limited credit may be granted, but only after complete credit check, including bank records. If interested, ask for a credit application form. Maximum legal interest of 1.5 percent per month will be imposed on the unpaid balance of all past due advertising bills. Bills are past due when payment has not been received in Student Media office by the close of the last business day of the calendar month on which bill is received. The Battalion reserves the right to refuse to accept any ad from any advertiser whose account is in arrears. Tearsheets of display advertisements will be furnished to the advertiser upon request. Any unusual amount of tearsheets requested will be provided to the advertiser at a cost of $1 each. Charges for all political advertising even for regular credit customers must pre-paid. Payment in advance is required for going-out-of-business, transient and spring break travel advertising. policy and rules The subject matter, form, size, wording, illustrations and typography of all advertising are subject to the approval of Student Media. An ad is not considered accepted by The Battalion until it is actually published. Advertising containing attacks of a personal, sexist, racist, ethnic or religious nature will not be accepted. The advertiser and/or advertising agency assume full liability for content (including text, illustrations and online links) of advertisements published and also assume responsibility for any claims arising therefrom made against The Battalion. The Battalion assumes no responsibility for the omission of any advertisement, or for any error above the value of the actual space occupied by such error. Any claim for allowance must be made within five working days after the occurrence of any error. Credit allowable on first insertion only. The Battalion will not reduce charges for simple typographical errors or misprints that do not lessen the value of an advertisement. The Battalion is not responsible for errors when copy or illustrations are submitted after the deadlines, or when a proof has been approved by the advertiser, or when camera-ready copy containing errors has been supplied by the advertiser. Makegoods or credit adjustments for advertising errors will be determined by the Advertising Manager based on what percentage the error detracts from the effectiveness of the total advertising message. Such adjustments will not be considered unless the Advertising Manager is notified of the error before the next insertion of the ad, or within 5 working days of a single insertion. An advertiser wishing to cancel an ad must do so on or before the regular deadline. Failure to give notice by that time does not release the advertiser from full responsibility for payment of the ad space reserved. With the exception of classified advertising, placement or page position is not guaranteed nor sold. Requests will be honored at the sole discretion of the Advertising Manager. The Battalion will not print news stories, pictures, or free notices as part of any advertising arrangement. All advertising (display or classified) which otherwise does not contain identification, will be required to include a line identifying buyer of the space. Advertising copy may not be run upside down. Advertising designed to resemble news matter will be labeled Advertisement. All such advertising must be bordered. All political ads, including those from campus organizations, must be labeled as such and must carry identification of sponsor (or sponsoring organization) and information required by law or regulation. Minimum ad size is 1 column x 1 inch. Ads are sold in one-half inch increments. Ads 19 inches or deeper will be charged for full depth of page (21 inches).

The inital ad will be charged the agreed upon rate, the second ad will receive a 10% discount, third ad will have a 15% discount, and a fourth or more ad would receive a % discount. Minimum size requirements is 6. MONDAY COUPONS: $9.00 per week The coupon ad rate is based on consecutive Monday insertions without copy changes for a total cost of $196. Ads measure 3.25 inches x 3 inches. $10 charge per copy change. Submit payment with copy change. NON-PROFIT: $8.97 per column inch To qualify, organizations must provide an IRS form 501(c)3 or 501(c). The non-profit rate is the lowest rate offered and is not subject to repeat discounts. FRONT PAGE AD: The Battalion offers daily advertising on the front page. Includes full color. Sizes: 6 columns by 2 inches, 6 columns by 2½ inches and 6 columns by 3 inches. Ask your sales representative for details. Availability is determined on a first-come, first-serve basis. Not subject to repeat discounts. 4 classified rates LOCAL CLASSIFIED DISPLAY: See Black/White Rates. NATIONAL CLASSIFIED DISPLAY: See Black/White Rates. CLASSIFIED WORD: 35 cents per word with minimum charge of $3.50 for each day. To boldface, italicize or capitalize words in your classified ad, add 25 cents per word per day. VOLUME REDUCTIONS: For details, please contact a Battalion classified advertising representative. PRIVATE PARTY WANT ADS: $10 for words running 5 days, if your merchandise is priced $1,000 or less (price must appear in ad). This rate applies only to non-commercial advertisers offering personal possessions for sale. If item doesn t sell, five additional insertions will be run at no charge. Advertiser must call before 1 p.m. on the day of the fifth insertion. No copy change (other than reduction in price) is allowed. No refunds will be made if your ad is cancelled early. CLASSIFIED INFORMATION (Also, see Policy and Rules section.) The Battalion will not be responsible for more than the first insertion of incorrect copy in classified advertising. If tearsheets are desired, please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope or $1.00 per tearsheet along with your order. Samples of all mail, telephone or online-order items must be submitted for approval prior to publication of advertising. Advertiser must provide street address and direct phone number. No ads requesting money to be sent to a P.O. Box address will be accepted. Personals ads are not accepted. Mailer ads or work-at-home ads are not accepted. Ads for research services or pre-written academic work such as term-papers, themes or research projects are not accepted. All real estate advertising is subject to the Fair Housing Act. Adoption advertisements are subject to special guidelines. market information / circulation The Battalion is the most effective way of reaching one of America s largest college institutions a readership of more than 66,000 Texas A&M University students (appx. 52% men, 8% women; 63% are -21 and 2% 22-25) and 21,000 permanent and part-time University and System employees (more than 2,800 are faculty members). Normal Battalion press run is 6,0. Copies are re-read by classmates, roommates and family members. Each online ad will have run of the site (ROS) display meaning that it will show on every page of TheBatt.com. We offer a 10% discount for running an ad for an entire month ( weeks), and a 25% discount for running and ad for an entire year. We averaged 1K unique users per month in the 16 Fall semester and nearly 6K impressions per day with our advertising content for the same period.
