2 CONTENTS Welcome to the Durham Students Union media pack. This pack outlines a range of opportunities for you to connect with more than 19,000 students at Durham University. Durham University is one of the leading universities in the country, and attracts highachieving students from across the UK and overseas. Durham students are a highly attractive audience, with the majority living away from home for the first time. They are making decisions now about the brands they will use and the organisations they want to work for in the future. Students spending power has continued to remain high throughout the recession and they are a market which is happy to try something new. Durham Students Union is a charitable organisation, which means all income generated via media opportunities is used to improve our organisation to benefit our students. 3 FRESHERS & PRE-ARRIVAL UNION FAIR The Union Fair is the perfect opportunity for you to come faceto-face with our students and showcase your brand. Tuesday 3, Wednesday 4 & Thursday 5 October 2017 Attracts around 9000 new students over the three days Attended by a portion of our 3,000 postgraduate students, as well as returning students A limited number of commercial stalls available, at a range of price points Tuesday 3 will be the sports & active societies fair; with a smaller commercial presence this will be a good opportunity to speak with students. 5 FRESHERS BALL Our Freshers Ball is the must attend event the welcome period for all new students and you can have your brand associated with this popular event by sponsoring it.
