2 OBJECTIVES To promote your company, brand and products to upscale consumers through the region s classic wine participatory cycling event. To introduce your company, brand and products to targeted consumers in a fun and inviting atmosphere. To create a face-to-face opportunity to promote your company, brand and products to more than 1,500 targeted customers. 3 EVENT OVERVIEW Usher in the fall with a scenic and leisurely tour of Colorado s Wine Country. Choose between two routes that showcase the splendor of the Grand Valley and beauty of the Western Slope. Chock-full of wineries, vineyards, orchards and mesas, the 24th annual Tour de Vineyards has a little something for everyone! EVENT HISTORY Tour de Vineyards began back in 1994 in conjunction with the Colorado Mountain WineFest with the goal of creating a rider experience unlike any other in our state. Today, under new ownership Tour de Vineyards offers recreational and competitive cyclists alike the opportunity to cycle by beautiful and lush vineyards, enjoy foods and beverages authentic to the region, all while being treated to some of Colorado s finest western slope hospitality. The ride is a great way to kick off the weekend in the Grand Valley before taking in all the Colorado Mountain Winefest has to offer. By participating in Tour de Vineyards you ll also be supporting the likes C.A.V.E., the Town of Palisade and a handful of local nonprofit groups and organizations. 4 THE CYCLING MARKET Participants: total participants Age Range: 29 & under 5% 30 to 39 10% 40 to 49 20% 50 & over 65% Median Age: 52 years old Gender: Female (60%) Male (40%) Household Income: 60% make more than $100,000 a year More than 59.2 million Americans ride bicycles. Women comprise 46 percent of these cyclists. This segment of the market is not only growing in numbers, but increasing their spending clout. America s cyclists can be described as upscale, active, and open-minded. This can make them an attractive target for industries other than cycling. The average age of all American cyclists is 27. The average age of all Tour de Vineyards participants is 52. The cyclists attracted to the Tour de Vineyards are older, married, and have more disposable income to spend on their passions. Cycling ranks third behind walking and swimming as the most popular participation sport. The primary reasons for participation are as follows: Recreation: 82%; Fitness: 26%; Commuting: 10%; Racing: 1% 98% of our participants supplied us with their address with their registration last year. This is a tremendous line of communication that we are excited to utilize for the 2018 event.
