5 Producing quality seed for sustainable aquaculture The program covers studies and activities that will generate, verify and promote technologies to ensure the sustainable production of quality seedstock for aquaculture as well as for stock enhancement

7 Promoting healthy and wholesome aquaculture The strategies invoked in this program are on nutrition to promote healthy farmed aquatic animals; monitoring, diagnosis and control of diseases, environmental integrity and food safety

9 Maintaining environmental integrity through responsible aquaculture The program focuses on the impacts of aquaculture on the environment. It also aims to develop environment-friendly aquaculture technologies

11 Adapting to climate change The program aims to identify the accompanying changes in the environment brought about by the changing climate that may affect the aquaculture sector, and prepare the sector for the possible effects that these changes may have on aquaculture operations

13 Institutional capacity development for sustainable aquaculture (ICDSA) The ICDSA (Institutional capacity development for sustainable aquaculture) provides a mechanism for building the capacity of beneficiary communities and for the assessment of socioeconomic & environmental impacts of AQD aquaculture technologies. It is being implemented in partnership with local government units, donor communities, fisherfolks/farmers and other stakeholder groups aqdchief@seafdec.org.ph

15 Agree-build-operate-transfer (ABOT) aquaculture business The ABOT AquaNegosyo is a technical assistance mechanism for fishfarmers and the private sector. ABOT can assist new and refocusing entrepreneurs adopt AQD s science based technologies. Facilities can be constructed on client site and made operational through on-the-job training for client technicians / employees aqdchief@seafdec.org.ph

17 Promotion of sustainable and region-oriented aquaculture practices Through AQD, the ASEAN-SEAFDEC Fisheries Consultative Group mechanism funded by the Government of Japan - Trust Fund implements the program on Promotion of sustainable aquaculture and resource enhancement in Southeast Asia. The program has four projects: (1) promotion of sustainable and regionoriented aquaculture practices; (2) resource enhancement of internationally threatened and over-exploited species in Southeast Asia through stock release; (3) accelerating awareness and capacity-building in fish health management in Southeast Asia; and (4) food safety of aquaculture products in Southeast Asia aqdchief@seafdec.org.ph
