2 Africa-wide reginal agenda t strengthen Agricultural Educatin, Science, Technlgy and skills fr the yuth African gvernments called fr crdinated reginal initiative t strengthen university capacity especially targeting agricultural faculties The meeting f African Ministers f Educatin, Science and Technlgy held 21 Octber 2016 in Cape Twn called fr a Marshal Plan t: Establish a vibrant academic mbility prgrammes t increase access t quality academic prgrammes and fster reginal cperatin and integratin. Establish lead anchr universities t serve the wider cntinent in specific skill gap areas especially in Agriculture related fields, Strengthen staff capacities in African Universities and TAE institutins, RUFORUM was tasked t wrk with partners t develp a prgramme t strengthen Higher Agricultural Educatin n the cntinent Prvide yuth with the skills fr Africa s future Fd System

4 Cnsultatins suggest a reginal prject thrugh reginal anchr universities t: Develp cmpetent and relevant human resurces (esp. the highly-skilled) required t accelerate agri-fd systems transfrmatin in Africa thrugh strengthening (i) agri-fd related educatin and training enhanced with transdisciplinary appraches and applied research at selected African reginal anchr universities; (ii) university linkages t the reginal agricultural sectr its pririties, needs and stakehlders; and (iii) university partnerships with public and private entities related t agri-fd bth within and utside the regin. And, address 6 reginal Key Gap Areas identified thrugh a multi-year cnsultative prcess with gvernment representatives, agricultural university leaders and ther stakehlders in Africa: 1. Agribusiness and Entrepreneurship 2. Agri-fd Systems and Nutritin 3. Rural Innvatins and Agricultural Extensin 4. Agricultural Risk Management and Climate Change Prfing 5. Agricultural Plicy Analysis 6. Statistical Analysis, Fresight and Data Management SHAEA fcuses n system change rather than n individual institutinal benefits.
