1 Upper Gwydir Landcare Association P.O. Bo x 1 08 Bi nga ra 2404 G r o u n d c o v e r J u n e A bold new initiative has begun in Northern NSW aimed at restoring and reconnecting bush corridors and linking native vegetation, reconnecting farmland with the beneficial services supplied free o agriculture by the natural environment. The Brigalow Nandewar Biolinks project will strengthen the links between biodiversity and agricultural production in the targeted area bounded by Moree, Edgeroi, Bingara and Gravesend, including the Bellata, Gurley, Millie and Terry Hie Hie areas. The project scope will also target revegetation along critical rivers and streams across the entire Border Rivers Gwydir catchment, enhancing and reestablishing riparian vegetation to improve ecological links. What s in it for the Landholder? We can retain our birds, animals and plants by controlling weeds and ferals, building connections within the landscape through vegetation and increasing the size and diversity of important bushland patches. The best part is we can do this in such a way that it will fit into the landscape of existing farms, increasing the benefits to be gained from nature s services. How can the project help? Join the many landholders and regional organistations already planning and building the Brigalow Nandewar Biolinks. The project may be able to assist you with the following: Control of pigs and foxes in bushland Control of key environmental weeds: Coolatai Grass, African Love Grass, Green Panic, Buffel Grass and Boxthorn The types of activities the project will support are: Shade and shelter plantings Maintain high ground cover Fence to manage grazing Increase number of plant species Create new bushland patches Upper Gwydir Landcare Association is collaborating with BRG CMA to deliver this project in our area.
