New work programme for period have been elaborated. The coordination is financed by a DTP project.

Actions of PA5 To develop and adopt one single overarching floods management plan at basin level or a set of flood risk management plans coordinated at the level of the international river basin To support wetland and floodplain restoration as an effective mean of enhancing flood protection, and more generally to analyse and identify the best response to flood risk (including green infrastructure ) To extend the coverage of the European Floods Alert System (EFAS) system to the whole Danube river basin, to step up preparedness efforts at regional level (including better knowledge of each other's national systems) and to further promote joint responses to natural disasters and to flood events in particular, including early warning systems To strengthen operational cooperation among the emergency response authorities in the Danube countries and to improve the interoperability of the available assets To continuously update the existing database of accident risk spots (ARS Inventory), contaminated sites and sites used for the storage of dangerous substances To develop rapid response procedures and plans in case of industrial accidental river pollution Anticipate regional and local impacts of climate change through research To develop spatial planning and construction activities in the context of climate change and increased threats of floods

Higlight of steps towards milestones PAC coordination to discover synergies Strong coordination by Ministry of Foregin Affairs and Trade, focus and push on EUSDR issues (HU) Priority areas are DTP projects themselves with definite tasks to carry out differencies in progress in activites INTERREG programme with the same extent Danube Transnational Programme LoR, projects, SMF, project financing conference Basin wide survey and cooperation with ICPDR Education curricula and workshop, project Policy review on droughts and climate change adaptation Publications for better understanding flood risk management and climate change

Outreach towards organizations so far Continous discussion and adjusted workflow with ICPDR Signature of the Memorandum of Understanding document with the Carpathian Convention (13/12/2017) Participation of EUSDR PA5 HU PAC on the EUSALP Annual Forum and invitation to the 12nd PA5 SG Meeting (Vienna, 5/12/2017) INTERACT Joint meeting of macro-regional coordinators on climate and disaster risk reduction (Budapest, 16-17/11/2017) As a follow-up the coordinators jointly organized a conference session on the EU Civil Protection Forum2018 in Brussels SCALING UP PREVENTION: Cross-border cooperation for effective disaster risk management highlighting their achievements for the whole European civil protection community. 6th ASEM Seminar on Integrated Water Resources Management for Sustainable Development (Lao PDR, 25-26/10/2017) - representing PA4 & PA5 achievments and projects for Asian experts

activities with potential MRS cooperation Participation on steering group meetings and presentation of progress in the relevant field if there are, sharing EU reports Organising meeting back-to-back or joint (e.g. general management of MRS, policy and governance) Exchange information or at least inform MRS viewpoints on: policy/eu directive reviews directly Climate adaptation strategy updates (e.g. ICPDR) Mutually evaluate and support EU supervision surveys Learning interactions: Contacts to be established supporting projects (e.g. ice management, Odra) Maybe study tours or participation on plenary events Identification of transferable topics and knowledge: Drought management Sediment management etc.

messages PA5 would like to go beyond the flood hazard and risk management and incorporate other actors e.g. catastrophy agencies, forestry. Enhance climate change adaptation on society level with practical solutions for problems on local level. Further enhance the cross-sectoral educational capacities (e.g. social aspects, green infrastructure) and rising awareness among the future generation. How to step further and support basin-wide development? aim to influence territorial programmes support project generation and application (LoR, LoM) distribute specific information via website and inform potential recipients about certain issues provide discussion and visibility platform in different type of media
