4 Guideline for poster preparation: Posters should be informative, attractive and self explanatory. The size of poster should be 0.8 x 1.5 m. Name of the presenter should be underlined and his/her address be mentioned. Best poster shall be selected by the panel of judges for award. The organizing Committee of National Seminar on behalf of Indian Society of Genetics & Plant Breeding, RANCHI CHAPTER cordially invites Scientists, Teachers and Students and Research Fellows from the disciplines of Horticulture, Genetics, Plant Breeding, Biotechnology, Crop Physiology, Plant Biochemistry and Molecular Biology to participate in the National Seminar on Innovative Breeding Approaches for Agricultural Security at Birsa Agricultural University, Ranchi (Jharkhand) on 13 th & 14 th March, This seminar will allow the Scientific community to discuss various innovative technologies that have a bearing on crop improvement, and to project their possible applications in plant breeding activities. Background: The Plant Breeders have fashioned our present-day crop plants out of the wild weedy species. They continued their endeavor to modify crop genotypes to enhance their performances and usefulness to the changing human needs and agro-climatic conditions. The world population is increasing at a rapid rate and is expected to go past the nine billion mark by the year In addition, the nature and the relevance of both abiotic and biotic stresses are undergoing unrelenting changes in the wake of the environmental alterations engendered by climate changes and global warming. In view of these, it is necessary not only to continue to evolve new crop genotypes with higher yield potential and tolerance to the various prevailing stresses but also to develop them at a much faster pace. The plant breeders thus face unprecedented challenges of harnessing the reservoirs of genetic variability present in the unadapted germplasm with the minimum investment of time and in a highly precise and predictable manner. Themes: Breeding for biotic and abiotic stresses Pre-breeding-utilization of unadapted genetic resources. Genomics in Plant Breeding Marker Assisted Breeding Designing Physiologically/Biochemically Smart Genotypes GM crop plants for Changing climate Call for abstracts: Abstracts on the above thematic areas are invited for lead/ contributory (Oral & Poster) presentations. Abstracts can be sent in MS word (Front size-12, Times New Roman, Single line spacing) having up to 350 words excluding title, authors and affiliations to Dr. Z.A. Haider, through (as attached file) at isgpbranchi@gmail.com along with duly filled in registration form up to 29 th February, Acceptance will be communicated within 3 days of receipt of the abstracts (s).
