4 Why the SDGs matter for BASF SDGs are universal, inclusive and ambitious SDGs define the global sustainable development priorities in a common framework - for action and for measuring progress SDGs reflect future policy direction and influence agenda setting as well as regulation at an international, national and regional level SDGs reflect stakeholder expectations

5 BASF s contribution to the SDGs BASF contributes to the UN SDGs by minimizing impacts along our value chain and foster positive contributions through our products and solutions Our materiality topics address the SDGs For each SDG, there are examples of BASFs contribution (projects, solutions, management systems, tools) (see: BASF Homepage - Sustainability- UN Sustainable Development Goals)

7 Ambitious targets for chemical industry? 3.9 by 2030 substantially reduce the number of deaths and illnesses from hazardous chemicals and air, water, and soil pollution and contamination 6.3 by 2030, improve water quality by reducing pollution, eliminating dumping, and minimizing release of hazardous chemicals and materials, halving the proportion of untreated wastewater, and substantially increasing recycling and safe reuse globally 12.4 by 2020, achieve environmentally sound management of chemicals and all wastes throughout their life cycle, in accordance with agreed international frameworks, and significantly reduce their release to air, water and soil in order to minimize their adverse impacts on human health and the environment How ambitious the targets are largely depends on how they will be defined and measured

15 In cooperation with the Global Fund we are developing a first prototype to track losses in Global Fund programs around the world Worldwide access to mobile app (IOS and Android) and web app 90 sec. for user to enter a loss Use is free of charge Basis for a holistic risk mgt. system (incl. asset register, analytic etc.) 15
