What is our Mission? To protect and restore nature in Aotearoa/New Zealand

Fresh water facts and figures: 72% of our freshwater fish are heading for extinction, but the only one that has any protection, the grayling, is already extinct.. 4 A out second of 5 version of our native of the template. whitebait species are threatened with extinction Ud tie tionsen iamcons euatet at prat, con eugue tie cor ipit praesse t nim dunt adit vel ullaor 90% of NZ wetlands have been destroyed Tiamcons euatet at prat, con eugue tie manga cor ipit praesse t nim dunt adit vel ullaor Two-thirds of more than 160 monitored river swimming spots in New Zealand are not safe for swimming con eugue tie tie tionsen iamcons euatet at prat, con eugue cor ipit praesse t nim dunt adit vel ullaor Ud tie tionsen iamcons euatet at prat, con tie praesse cor ipit praesse t nim dunt adit vel ullaor Tiamcons euatet at prat, con eugue tie manga cor ipit praesse t nim dunt adit vel ullaor

Fresh water Nature is in crisis: Our rivers and lakes are in bad shape. Fresh water species are disappearing from polluted waterways that are also unsafe for people Nature is up for grabs: Regional councils are letting farmers get away with polluting rivers and groundwater, and taking more than their share of a common resource Agency Capture: Regional councils and government agencies are too close to agri-business interests. The agencies whose job it is to manage our waterways are setting weak rules, and not enforcing them There is a solution: We need strong rules to protect the environment, and agencies must enforce them

The Freshwater Rescue Plan steps are as follows: 1. NPS-FM for human and ecological health. 2. End public money for irrigation schemes. 3. Invest in an Agriculture Transition Fund. 4. Decrease cow numbers immediately. 5. Polluter Pay system. 6. Increase regional council reporting and accountability. 7. Adopt OECD recommendation to establish a whole-ofgovernment multi-stakeholder process to develop a longterm vision for the transition of New Zealand to a lowcarbon, greener economy.

Biodiversity facts and figures Biodiversity facts and figures:.. 80% of our birds, 88% of our lizards, 72% of our freshwater fish and 100% of our frogs are threatened with extinction Only 5% of unmanaged kiwi chicks survive until adulthood Only 10% of our conservation land gets multi-species pest control, and significant areas are missing out

Climate change facts: Sea.. level rise, drought, storms, fires, and floods have devastating consequences for wildlife A second version of the template. Ocean changes mean food is becoming more scarce for threatened seabirds such as Ud tie tionsen iamcons euatet at prat, con eugue tie hoiho / yellow-eyed penguin cor ipit praesse t nim dunt adit vel ullaor Pests Tiamcons and weeds euatet will at prat, extend con eugue their tie range, mangaand new pests and diseases will arrive. cor ipit praesse t nim dunt adit vel ullaor Warmer temperatures lead to forest mast events, which cause more pests and greater pressure con eugue on already tie tie tionsen threatened iamcons native euatet at species prat, con eugue cor ipit praesse t nim dunt adit vel ullaor Warmer Ud tie temperatures tionsen iamconsmean euatet fewer at prat, female con tie praesse tuatara will hatch cor ipit praesse t nim dunt adit vel ullaor The sea around New Zealand is becoming more acidic, affecting the ability of species like Tiamcons paua, mussels euatet at and prat, oysters con eugue to tie grow manga shells cor ipit praesse t nim dunt adit vel ullaor

Climate change Climate change Nature is in crisis: Our native species are already under pressure from habitat loss and predation climate change is another nail in the coffin Nature is up for grabs: Polluters are free to exploit the atmosphere by releasing climate-damaging gases, and nature is paying the price Agency capture: Political sympathy for oil and agri-business has resulted in there being no plan to reduce emissions. The Government is protecting carbon-intensive industries, at the expense of people and nature There is a solution: If we help nature, nature can protect us from the worst effects of climate change. NZ needs a nation-wide plan to cut emissions, alongside an increase to DOC s budget to restore environmental resilience
