3 The value of plant health. In understanding the value of plant health, it s important to evaluate factors like economic threshold. In simple terms, when pests reach a population level where the cost of control is equal to or less than the dollar value of the yield benefit, you have to ask, Will a half bushel cost less than a half-bushel yield? Original thresholds determined that the cost of an insecticide treatment was $10-12 per acre. Now, it s actually $5-7 per acre, making it a more economical decision to use an insecticide treatment program to effectively protect yields. This is important since insects impacting soybeans one season can affect corn the next year. And because foliar fungicide and herbicide applications are now standard, Hero insecticide becomes an excellent choice for quality yields and insect management. Hero helps to control the threat of aflatoxins in corn. Hero can be an effective means of controlling dangerous aflatoxins produced by Aspergillus fungi that can be transmitted by insects. These carcinogens are one of the most common types of grain molds and can cause liver poisoning in ruminant and non-ruminant livestock, as well as humans. Aspergillus fungi thrive under conditions such as: Aspergillus spores to silks and kernels Tolerance levels in grain vary by species and age of end user: South Dakota State University ppb Max li mi t for fi nish ing beef ef cattle Parts per Billion 300 ppb Max limi t for fi nish shing swine (over 100 lbs) 100 pp b Ma x limit for breeding livestock, mature poultry P 38H64 Hx 1 P 38H67 Conv. 4 A next-generation, dual-action insecticide gives you the advantage. Hero insecticide represents the next generation of broad-spectrum insecticides, designed to give you a technological advantage in the control of corn and soybean pests. It offers exceptional foliar control of yield-robbing insects that other insecticides may miss. Gets rid of key pests fast and keeps them away longer. Hero offers you the combined benefits of fast knockdown and longer-lasting control than you would see with any one Flexible application guidelines give you more options. product, you get more value for your investment. Plus, Hero can be applied via air or ground application. As part of a corn or soybean plant health program: bean leaf beetles, soybean stem borers, grasshoppers, armyworms and more. For tough-to-control pests: thrips and Lygus species. On soybeans: Apply alone or as a tank mix with the postemergence glyphosate treatment or foliar fungicide treatment, or as insect pressure requires. On corn (field, seed, sweet and pop): Additional labeled crops: 9 Hero Yield Data-Nebraska Trials on Corn 9 Hero Stink Bug Control on Soybeans-Louisiana State University Fungicide Fungicide + Hero Hero 5.0 oz/a Orthene 8.9 oz/a Karate Z 1.7 oz/a
5 Protect your corn and soybean investment this season. Why use plant protection? The demand for corn and soybeans remains strong. Input prices, including fertilizer, seed, fuel, land and cash rent continue to rise. To meet growing demand and rising costs, growers must consider new production practices in order to reach desired yields and profits. Hero insecticide alone or combined with a fungicide is a proven way to help maximize your profit per acre while meeting an increasing market demand. Results show a boost in yields and profits. Field tests have shown that controlling insects around silking for corn and whenever pest pressure is present in soybeans consistently boosts yields by reducing stress, increasing standability and allowing more efficient ear and pod fill. Hero can give your crop total protection from all silk-clipping and ear-, leaf-, pod- and bloom-feeding insects. Plus, by protecting corn plants from insect damage, you can stop harmful pathogens from entering your corn, preventing weaker stalks, smaller ears and aborted kernels. The numbers speak for themselves. Just a 10 bushel increase in yields from applying an insecticide to corn at silking earns a 1,000-acre grower an additional $29,000 profit. An eight bushel increase in soybean yields from applying an insecticide at bloom can earn a 1,000-acre grower an additional $66,000 profit.* The right combination for total plant protection. Because the insecticide application coincides with the guidelines for applying fungicides, you can control both insects and disease at the same time. One application will save you time and money, while providing your crop with a more powerful protection program. In fact, 9 university and industry trials showed that a combination of a fungicide and insecticide results in an average increase of 26.2 bu/a. With Hero you ll get an optimum mix partner with any fungicide. *At today s market prices.
6 People are talking about the benefits of Hero Insecticide. After several years of tank mixing products for soybean aphid control, we decided to look for an alternative solution. Our search for a new product needed to meet the following criteria: Hero insecticide met all the requirements and the 9 results were outstanding with complete customer satisfaction, zero complaints, and increased profitability due to a more efficient operation. - Terry Sharp, AgriTech Aviation, Indianola, IA Economics would be the number one [benefit of Hero] because everything I ve checked, it s a great return on investment. It can just go in the tank in the field you re going to anyway. It s going to return a profit to us To come back to the overall plant health, again, it s the main thing you ve got to do. If you don t have that, it s not going to survive and get your return on investment It s an excellent product long life, any insect we ve wanted to control, it takes care of it. - Marcus Huffman, Auburn, KY The optimum choice for corn and soybean yield protection. With advanced, Dual-Action Technology, Hero insecticide provides your corn and soybean crops with a whole new level of foliar protection. By combining the strengths of two pyrethroid families, you get quick knockdown power and longer residual control the perfect one-two punch for evil insects looking to take a bite out of your yields.
