1 Welcome to Monacan Soil and Water Conservation District Serving Powhatan and Goochland counties
2 The Mission of Monacan Soil and Water Conservation District is to provide technical assistance, education and leadership to improve natural resource conservation in Powhatan and Goochland counties.
3 The District: Is a subdivision of the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation. Operational funding is received from DCR and our 2 county governments. Was established in Is self-governed by a 6 member Board of Directors 2 publicly elected from each county, 1 appointed, and an VCE agriculture agent. Board meetings are every 3 rd Monday and open to the public. Is staffed by a District Manager/Conservation Specialist Keith Burgess; Conservation Specialist Betty McCracken; and Administrative Secretary Pam Pleasants. Is allowed to receive charitable contributions under Internal Revenue Code 170a. Services are open to all, regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, religion, age, disability, political beliefs, sexual orientation, genetic information, marital, family, or veteran status, or any other basis protected by law.
