3 UN Sustainable Summit From 5 to 7 September, 05, the seventieth session of the General Assembly was held Outcomes the outcome document of the post-05 agenda Transforming our world: the 00 Agenda for Sustainable Development (Agenda 00)

4 In the document, 7 sustainable development goals were identified End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture Strengthen the implementation means, to revive the sustainable global partnership for development 4 End hunger and ensure access by all people End all forms of malnutrition Double the agricultural productivity and incomes of small-scale food producers Ensure sustainable food production systems and implement resilient agricultural practices

5 Strengthen resilience and adaptive capacity to climate-related hazards and natural disasters Integrate climate change measures into policies, strategies and planning Improve education, awareness-raising and human and institutional capacity on climate change mitigation, adaptation, and impact reduction 4

6 Initiative: Promoting agricultural sustainable development Chinese government will hold diverse forms of activities for discussions and sharing of experience, technology and best practices in agricultural sustainable development Workshop on needs assessment for sustainable agriculture in APEC region and the Food security-climate-resource Nexus APEC Small Peasants and Poverty Alleviation Symposium Workshop on promotion of cooperation on scientific and technological innovation in increasing added value in food production chain 4 International Training Course and Forum on Marine Aquaculture 5

7 Workshop on needs assessment for sustainable agriculture in APEC region and the Food security- Climate-Resource Nexus Aims Assess the needs and gaps in terms of policy, technology and capacity building in APEC region for achieving SDGs Significance Identify the co-benefit and tradeoffs between food security, climate change and resource management Develop the technology pathways and policy recommendations for promoting sustainable agriculture Timeline The workshop will be held in China by 07 APEC Small Peasants and Poverty Alleviation Symposium Aims build a platform to share experience, strengthen capacity building and regional cooperation, and discuss future strategies for development of smallholders and poverty alleviation Significance Strengthen Capacity building on the perspective of poverty governance Push forward small peasants development and poverty alleviation situations among APEC economies Timeline Symposium will be held in China by 07 6

8 Workshop on promotion of cooperation on scientific and technological innovation in increasing added value in food production chain Aims Pursue a high-level food production system with high-added value within each economy Significance Harmonization of high yield, productivity improvement and environment-friendly and integrated design will be conducted Jointly making great efforts in the field of cooperation on scientific and technology innovation increasing added value in food production Timeline Workshop will be held in China by 08 Aims 4 International Training Course and Forum on Marine Aquaculture Sharing onfishery management, genetic breeding, aquatic disease control and aquaculture technologies Promoting on Technology Innovation for Industrialization of Marine Aquaculture Significance Construct an international platform and offer comprehensive knowledge for APEC member economies Encouraging cooperation within APEC region Timeline Training course will be held in 09 7

9 0 Outcomes 0 Outcomes enable cooperation in food security and agricultural technologies and exchange of expertise and technologies Research will be conducted for higher productivity and greater economic returns, while maintaining the emphasis on quality and environment protection Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals for eradicating poverty and hunger.
