4 In case you missed it: On July 18 th, members of the Johnston County Beekeepers Association and guests enjoyed the club s annual field trip. Amie Newsome planned a wonderful outing, and the weather was perfect. First stop was the Bayer Bee Care Center at RTP where we were welcomed by Jim Dempster. Jim, Dick Rogers, and Kim Huntzinger showed us around and answered a multitude of questions. Next, we ate a delicious lunch at the Busy Bee Café in Raleigh, followed by a guided tour of the grounds of the Executive Mansion. Gerald Adams, Grounds Supervisor, personally conducted the tour and fielded many questions about plants, honey bees, and koi. Each participant received a jar of honey produced by the bees at the Mansion. Next, it was on to Ronnie s Berry Farm, owned and operated by club members, Ronnie and Linda Fish. Here we observed Ronnie s bees, picked delicious blueberries, and enjoyed wonderful desserts prepared by Linda. Many thanks to all who worked so hard in making this a special day and an enjoyable outing.
