1 A Framework for Land Accounting - Draft Set of Tables Note: an earlier version of this set of tables was discussed by the Eurostat Task Force on Land Accounting at its meeting 5-6 July 1999 in Luxembourg and revised thereafter. The Task Force considers this preliminary set of tables a useful basis for further discussion, refinement and completion. List of tables Table 0 Classifications used Table 1 Land cover and changes in 1000 ha Table 2 Land cover detailed changes in 1000 ha Table 3 Land cover changes by categories of change in 1000 ha Table 4 Land use and changes in 1000 ha Table 5 Land use in monetary values Table 6 Land use detailed changes in 1000 ha Table 7 Land use changes by categories of change in 1000 ha Table 8 Land use by industries in 1000 ha (table 8a) and monetary values (table 8b) Table 9 Land cover/ use matrix in 1000 ha Table 10.. Forestry Intensification of agricultural use The Task Force calls for a revised Land Use Classification. Afforestation/deforestation (2) Alternative breakdowns could distinguish degrees of intervention (e.g. leve industries agricultural changes of fertiliser use) and separately show organic farming. Also, the more common Housing Restoration and rehabilitation of nature breakdown (arable, under permanent crops, grass and Mining, manufacturing & services permanent meadows, agricultural ) could be used. Changes due to causes Transport infra Multiple causes uses incl. dumping Land abandonment A multi-lingual dictionary Recreation Marketed services Natural causes EN FR DE ES Non-market activities Catastrophic events (forest fires, avalanches ) soil sol Boden suelos Habitats (1) Preliminary - the Task Force notes that no agreed terre Land (?) tierra Protected habitats taxonomy of changes is available at present and needs cover couverture Bodenbedeckung cobiertura Non-protected of special interest development - ideally towards separate classifications of use utilisation Bodennutzung usos Adjustment for multiple uses (-) changes for use and cover.
